“Slightly old fashioned place but suited us very well. Clean, neat , nice staff. I don't want luxury or boutique. Easy to walk into town and good English breakfast. The centre of Hitchin can get very 'jolly' on a Saturday night so I was pleased to be somewhere a bit quieter. Large comfortable sitting room on ground floor - good for reading the paper. Good parking spaces at back of hotel. Good value for an over night stay.”
“The old building and park is a great location, although the whole place seems to be considerably marketed downwards. New buildings are nice from the outside, but inside they look like an hospital. Rooms are quite un-impressive with cheap furniture, cheap bathrooms, etc. Overall, a place that could be 5-stars, turned into a sort of Holiday-Inn without the standard features of a Holiday Inn which make them look and feel comfortable, nice and tidy...”
“Cheap and clean enough. Rooms st the back of the hotel are in a purpose built 90s style block. Very like a traveloge to be honest. Tired and in need of a refurbishment throughout. Breakfast was nice enough although I wasn't a fan of radio 1 being forced in to my ears. I expect the nicer rooms cost a lot more than we paid so not disappointed. Great location for visiting the towm”
“The hotel is located in the city center and although it's max 2 min walking from the market place and there are lots of restaurants and shops around, it was quiet (stayed Saturday and Sunday night). Staff was friendly, but seemed a bit overworked during breakfast on Saturday morning (not enough tables in the breakfast area...). Check-in and check-out went without any problems. The bathroom seemed new and was clean.”
