Situated in Tuk Tuk, Matraville Home Stay Tuk Tuk Lake Toba Samosir features accommodation with seating area. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The guest house has family rooms. Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

Sumatra Expedition Lodge is a recently renovated guest house in Bukit Lawang, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. Guests can make use of the children's playground or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the mountain and river. We had a wonderful experience in North Sumatra thanks to Sumatra ethical expeditions and their crew. We spent two nights in the lodge and we did the 2D1N trek with our amazing guides Pika, Tenjong and Imuh. We will be forever grateful to them for taking such good care of us, for teaching us so much about the jungle and the animals, and for being so kind. I definitely recommend the experience. We were able to spot over 15 orangutans, many monkeys, including the Thomas leaf monkey and some gibbons, as well as hornbills (similar to toucans). The lodge is amazing, with a wonderful view of the nature surrounding this area. They provided us with transport service (shared or private) from Medan airport for a very good price. Breakfast is good as well as the dinner, all of it at great prices. The atmosphere is very calm and welcoming. Many thanks for such an unforgettable experience!!!

Asim Paris Guesthouse & jungle trekking has a garden, private beach area, a terrace and restaurant in Bukit Lawang. Boasting a concierge service, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi. It was a really pleasant stay!! We stayed here 2 nights before our jungle trek and 1 after as we really liked it. You have your own private terras with an amazing river view! The room was very clean and even has a ventilator so you can have a chill breeze when sleeping. The staff is extremely nice and they will do everything to serve you. They have just built a new terras that will open soon and serves cold drinks but even now they will jump on the motorcycle and fetch whatever u want. The breakfast is included and banana pancakes are always a good idea. It is not in the city centre but with a little hike of 10 minutes you are already there and in return you have a really beautiful view and only the sound of nature. In resumé, i really recommend this place if you are looking for something in Bukit Lawang.

Located in Bukit Lawang in the Sumatra region, Jhony's Backpacker-Guest House only stay here book treking with us features a balcony. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The accommodation provides airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. We booked with Jhony for our jungle trekking to see orangutans. It was the best decision ever! We saw orangutans and gibbon and long tail monkeys. The entire experience was great, the best food, great itinerary, where we stayed was very comfortable, and to end all the rafting was super super fun. Everything beat our expectations and it was all for a very fair price. Jhony was a great tour guide and so was his younger tour guide in training Lana who will be a guide next year. Lana was fantastic and super great with us and of course Jhony was too. Thank you so much to you both and we will definitely recommend you. If you’re coming to Bukit Lawang definitely book your tour with Jhony!

There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. The place is super clean and all the staff is amazing!! The whole place is a 10/10 and the food on the premises is delicious😋😋😋 We would like to give a big thank-you to Putri for the great communication from the date we booked and throughout our stay and to Nani for always greeting us daily at the reception/restaurant area with her genuine smile. “Big SHOUT OUT to Jack and Rico for being excellent guides during our two day jungle trekking…..and of course a big thank you to Junet our amazing taxi driver who picked us up at the airport and at the end of our stay drove us to lake Toba in the most professional way possible🙏🙏😊😘🦧

All units at the guest house are equipped with a seating area. The guest house provides certain units that include sea views, and every unit has a private bathroom and a desk. The units will provide guests with a wardrobe and a kettle. Best place we’ve ever stayed, cannot recommend it highly enough! The beach 5 meters from the room has some of the best snorkeling we have ever tried. We even saw a sea turtle. Borja is extremely attentive and helpful, and will try to help you regardless of what you need. We stayed in both a deluxe room and later a bungalow. Both are amazing but the bungalow has a bit more privacy. It takes roughly 15 minutes by scooter to get to Gapang Beach where there are diving and freediving schools.

At the guest house, the family-friendly restaurant is open for dinner and lunch and serves Indonesian cuisine. The guesthouse is located in a quiet area with a nice garden and outside area to relax. The best however was the owner. She gave us great tips and helped us organize our further trip. She owns another guesthouse in Tangkahan where we went on a jungle trip to see the Orang Utan. She made us a good and absolutely fair deal to get there, stay there, do the jungle tour and get back to Medan. We had the time of our life there.
