Our first stop in our Japan trip couldn't be better. The Guesthouse has an amazing view on the canal and the nature around. The room is very comfy. The unique part of this guesthouse is that the common area open as a café during the day, which we quite liked as it created a more charm. The owners are the most welcoming people we ever found, and they were always very helpful in case we needed something. The location of the Guesthouse is perfect with a car, as you are very close to supermarkets, Izuhara, Shiratake mountain and the airport.

Huis Ten Bosch je 20 km daleko. knowing the way of a traditional country house the experience was better than I thought. The location is great and the close towns around are just a walk away. If you like walking, its your place. The serenity , quietness and peace all around are stunning. We could feel the love put into the house during its remodeling. Admiring the way to stay as close as possible to original materials and way of building it. The living room is great and wants you to stay overlooking the rice patties all day long.

The decor is impeccable—calm, cozy, and soothing—so it feels like the house itself is Manami: thoughtful and kind. Every detail has been considered: a comfortable tatami bedroom with soft, plush mattress and linens, a full kitchen, washer & dryer, and even a little mini-spa corner to unwind. There are two toilets (a rare convenience in Japan) and the location is great for exploring. Manami helped us rent e-bikes and gave us wonderful day-trip plans and cultural insights we would never have discovered on our own. Staying here felt like touching the true spirit of old Japan while enjoying modern comforts. For us, it was a dream place. If you value kindness, authenticity, and quiet beauty, book Oteragoto—you’ll feel Manami’s heart in every corner. She truly deserves all the guests who will love this place as much as we did. 10/10. I didn’t expect a house this big and equipped. I was welcomed so caring and friendly and got help with everything I needed plus many more opportunities and offers for day trips and food options. I could even use the sounds system with their vinyls and the piano they have (really good sound!). Also, I cooked for myself in the evening with food I got in a supermarket of the next city. For a daytrip I rented an e-bike and went to the local waterfall (i was alone there!!) and to the sound shower museum, which I can highly recommend. Owner and staff are incredibly friendly and warm hearted.
