Manažer hotelu pan Inbaraj nás doprovodil do zahrady koření, kde s námi udělal podrobnou prohlídku.

She gave us tea on arrival and bananas from her own garden which tasted amazing. Immaculatley clean room and bathroom. Room is very big and spacious Also had drying racks which was very handy, also had drying racks which was very handy. Very good air conditioning in room. Organised our safari ar Yala National Park before arrival. Great value for money. Would highy recommend.

Velmi útulné ubytování. Vše čisté a velmi dobře sladěné. Co stojí za zmínku je opravdu nadstandardně pečující hostitel. Zařídil nám projížďku na lodi s večeří. Ranní s procházkou řekou s vodopádem a zajistil masáž. Také nás vozil tuktukem do své restaurace kde připravil čerstvě chycené ryby. V okolí jsou krásná místa například místní vodopád Wellawaya, nebo největší socha Budhy ve střední Asii.

Nobel Regency se nachází v destinaci Bibile a poskytuje ubytování s zahradou, neplaceným soukromým parkovištěm a terasou. Národní park Maduru Oya je 46 km daleko. A bit hard to find, behind some shops and apartments, you have to go under the building through, well, a short tunnel really. Maps is fairly accurate so just look for a gap in the building. On the other side is an old house which is the Nobel Regency which should have seemed "hemmed in" by the apartments, but it wasn't as it is set in lovely gardens with many plants. It's an old house with old furniture, retro but very comfortable. Multiple common areas both inside and outside. I had a very big room with a huge bathroom which was original to the house and dated, a bit of a time-warp really, but very clean and perfectly comfortable. Good a/c and fan. Hot water and good water pressure. Comfortable bed. I was hot and tired from my motorbike journey and the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. They bought me a welcome drink. After I had showered, I asked for tea and a snack, and they bought me fruit and then tea and cake on the verandah. Nothing was too much trouble. I sat and read a book and they kept checking that I was comfortable and had everything that I wanted. I did notice that one of the rooms was small because they had added an en-suite bathroom in a sort of prefabricated unit inside the room. That seemed a bit unusual. But I suppose it is perfectly functional. It is an inexpensive place to stay. Very good Sri Lankan curries and rice dinner, fruit and dessert. Breakfast was also very good. This was a perfect choice for me. I didn't explore the town as I was only on a stopover for one night, and I left early the next morning. It was very comfortable with good food and fantastic hosts.

We had a lovely stay here! The staff was absolutely welcoming and the room was very comfortable. We were greeted with a warm cup of tea, it was wonderful :) Their large garden is a great space to chill, and they also have a book exchange! Thank you :)

We, my girlfriend and I, have experienced our stay as a wonderful journey. When we arrived, we were faced with a closed gate, but within seconds the owner arrived. After checking in, we entered the room – perfect! A nice big bed, a clean and spacious bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everything you could need! After having a little chat, the hotel owner asked about our plans. We mentioned that we came for the nature and tranquility, and without hesitation, he offered to show us around the area. This was the start of an experience we will never forget. 🙏 First, we went to a small waterfall, very local with no tourists – just some local youngsters hanging out who even offered us a beer. Then he took us to Diyaluma Falls – what a massive waterfall that was! He offered us lunch, which he had made himself! A sandwich we’ll never forget; it was incredibly delicious. Next, we visited Buduruwagala Rock Carvings, where the owner introduced us to Buddhism. The place was surrounded by nature – trees, plants, birds – pure enjoyment. We thought we were heading back to the hotel, but nothing could be further from the truth. We visited real monks, where we received blessings and a white bracelet from an elderly monk. They also offered us boiled corn – so tasty! After the visit, we continued back to the hotel. On the way, we ran into a friend of the owner, who invited us to their home. When we arrived, the whole family was there to meet us. What kind and friendly people! They offered us tea and chocolate biscuits, and my girlfriend even received a gift! It gave us such a happy feeling, something we will cherish forever. ❤️ Then it was time to head back to the hotel – or so we thought. Instead, we went elephant spotting! Yes, you read that right – real wild elephants! It got quite late, but we spotted several wild animals, including both a male and female elephant. This, too, will stay with us forever.

Michael was one of the friendliest and kindest host we've had in Sri Lanka so far... and Sri Lanka is full of great people! The location is great if you are into nature and calm places, away from the crowds. He welcomed us with tea and snacks and we went for a short hike around the place. After that, Michael cooked the best rice and curry we've tried in Sri Lanka in about a month of our stay. Plus, you are welcome to learn the recipe! I would definitely come back to meet him back again.

We really enjoyed our time in Sunshine Guesthouse. The room was clean and in a very quiet location. The shared kitchen contains a large fridge, a kettle and free filtered water. The mosquito nets had no holes and worked really well. All the rooms on booking.com are non AC but we paid extra to have the AC switched on because there was an AC unit in our room. It worked really well. The location is off the main road and about a 10-15 minute easy walk to the centre of town. Tuk tuks are also very affordable in this area and plentiful. We were greeted with a cold drink on arrival and our host arranged our safari into Yala National Park for a really good price. The guide was excellent and found us leopard, elephant, sloth bear and lots of other animals. The guesthouse host also arranged our Tuk Tuk to Ella, which was really helpful. The host is so helpful in every way and took great care of us without being at all pushy. We were even allowed to use the washing machine! This guesthouse is the best value for money we found in Sri Lanka. Kataragama has a very local feel to it and we found food to be very affordable and good. The temple is totally worth at least one visit of a few hours. If we were to return to Kataragama, we would stay in the guesthouse again.
