Just 50mtrs from Dashashwamedh Ghat. 40mtrs from Maa Varahi Devi Temple. 100mtrs from Vishalakshi temple. 200mtrs from Maa Annapurna Temple. Gadowli Shopping road was also just walkable distance.

We had a great time at Sona’s guesthouse! The room was very comfortable. There was no AC, but the ceiling fan was perfect - we slept great. The hot shower was also nice. Sona is very helpful and organized with activities around the city. She also arranged airport transportation for us, which was very helpful. We had a cooking class with her, which was great! She’s an excellent cook and her English is very good. The location was also good. Keep in mind it’s a bit of a far walk to the main area where most of the food restaurants seem to be, but it’s very convenient for Assi Ghat, which is nice for the morning Aarti ceremony and for the sunrise boat tour. Overall a great stay!

From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel like family — warm smiles, genuine hospitality, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of Varanasi, just a short walk from the ghats and the Ganga. I loved waking up early and taking a peaceful stroll by the river. The rest house itself is clean, beautifully maintained, and full of charm. My room was comfortable, well-ventilated, and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. What really stood out was the calm and homely atmosphere — a perfect escape from the busy streets outside. The rooftop view of the Ganges during sunrise was absolutely breathtaking, and the staff even helped arrange a boat ride that became one of the highlights of my trip. If you’re looking for an affordable yet truly authentic stay in Varanasi, Banaras Rest House is the place to be.
