United StatesThe hotel is on the edge of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and our room looked directly out to the old palace and temples. Our view was gorgeous. When we wanted to go exploring, we could just step out of the hotel and everything was walking distance. The staff were extremely helpful. In fact, there was a glitch in the Booking.com app where our itinerary, inexplicably, did not match the hotel's. We got a bit anxious and stubborn because we had transcribed our intinerary based on our trip listings in the Booking app. But the owner very patiently asked us to sit down and figure it out, and we were humbled to find that our schedule was mixed up. We were able to sort it all out, because we were taking a side trip to stay outside of town for a night, returning to stay at Shiva House again. Shiva House stored our luggage while we were away. Also, the food in the restaurant is excellent. *There is a restaurant right next door as well, with a beautiful garden courtyard, worth checking out. We hired Myla (not sure of the spelling) to drive us to many sites, which was a great help. Everything is easy walking distance from Shiva House, and we loved that we could walk back and take a break at any time.

United StatesI had a super nice stay at this guesthouse in Bhaktapur! Raj and his family were incredibly warm and welcoming. The room was spotless — clean sheets, fresh towels, and even the bathroom was sparkling, which is quite rare in Nepal!
Breakfast was good — they made everything I asked for and even prepared traditional Nepali dishes like veg momos with great care and love.
I highly recommend staying here — it truly feels like home, and I’d be happy to come back again!

ChinaShekhar and his place were fantastic. Though my room was on the small side it was perfect for my needs. It was clean and comfortable and I was made to feel at home. I stayed for about a week and was welcomed into Shekhar's world, including the local music scene and seeing a different, more vibrant, side to Bhaktapur than I had experienced during a previous 2 day visit. Shekhar rented me a mountain bike at a very reasonable price and went out of his way to make me feel comfortable.

We stayed during the end of December so the weather was much cooler at night and the owners gave us a space heater and extra blankets at no extra charge. The location is perfect right next to the pottery square and Bhaktapur Dubar Square. Our host was very nice and helped us with a taxi to the airport and with local recommendations for our time there. We would definitely stay there again.

United StatesExcellent vacation very close to Durbar square and the sites of Bhaktapur. A lovely rooftop for sitting and catching a sunrise view of the Himalayas. The room was spacious, very clean, and quite comfortable. The proprietors were welcoming and kind and the guesthouse is full of exquisite carvings done by the patriarch of the family. Overall an outstanding find and we would definitely stay again!

This is a perfectly situated, comfortable homestay run by lovely people. It had the bonus of a kitchen, which I think would have been a great social space usually though we were there a little out of the busy season.

The best place to stay in Bhaktapur if you're looking for a good time and to connect with other people and get to know locals of the culture and people. Shekhar is the friendliest guy you'll meet and you will make some good memories with him.
