We arrived by train and found the hotel a little outside the city centre, but with excellent public-transport links and right beside the famous Diagonal Mar. Our beach-view room was a highlight: watching both sunrise and sunset from the room was simply magical. Breakfast was tasty, though vegan options beyond fresh fruit were limited. In the hotel’s restaurant/bar, the pesto pasta was outstanding. All in all, a delightful stay.

    Beautiful city!!

Beautiful city!! Enjoyed simply everything-- the food, the people, the shopping and the architecture! The Gaudi House tour was beyond fantastic and exceeded our expectations. It well worth the cost of admission and we were very happy we paid for the tickets that included the roof. Sagrada Familia-- again, spectacular architecture! The day we went it was very, very crowded so we did not tour inside- but the outside in and of itself is truly next level! One caution-- the area is a magnet for pick pockets so keep your eyes open and valuables safe. Beautiful city with so much to do and see, look forward to returning!

This was my second time in Barcelona, this time with kids.

This was my second time in Barcelona, this time with kids. Our favorite part was visiting the Sagrada Família – it’s simply breathtaking. We hired a guide who specializes in tours for children, and it really enhanced the experience. One of my children has celiac disease, and Barcelona was very accommodating for her dietary needs, which was a big relief. I also really enjoyed the rest of Gaudí’s architecture, as well as wandering through the vibrant streets of the city and the harbor area. We did have a negative experience at PortAventura. They treated my daughter, who has celiac, poorly, and overall it felt like they were just focused on making money. I would not recommend visiting there.

Had two extra days in Barcelona after our weeks cruise.

Had two extra days in Barcelona after our weeks cruise. Easy transport links from port and airport to/from city. Shuttle buses, tube or taxi. We spent 2 days on hop on/off bus to see sights & give us a taste of the city. Worked well. Got off at Camp Nu and 1992 Olympic Games area/village. Both worth a visit. Camp Nu under construction so all you really get to see is the museum. Best to return when finished, Olympic area has great views. Area clean with no litter, however some paving cracked & looking sad, in need of a bit of love. La Rambles was a very busy street, with pick pocketers obviously visible so be very very aware around here. Watch everyone's back, & have nothing on display, be vigilant- same with other crowds in/around the city. For us three days was plenty, this time, with lots of thoughts of what to do/go on our returning visit.

It is very crowded but that is likely true in Madrid, Paris, London, Florence, Rome, and many other world class cities in Europe during summer! Definitely buy tickets in advance of your trip if you want to see inside the most popular sights. The Art Museum of Catalan is a must see! Must try the paella and tinto de verano. Walk, immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of this world class city. Take note of the architecture

Barcelona is extremely clean and has amazing, outstanding architecture. What also stood out is how motorists obey all the traffic lights and signs and how they yield to pedestrians. We did not witness any tourist protests during our trip. I do feel that the folks in Barcelona are less friendly and more aloof than the other countries we visited this trip. Besides Barcelona, we went to Greece, Turkey, Montenegro and Italy and Barcelona had a more negative vibe in that servers/store staff, etc. didn't want to talk to you. All the European countries have an influx of tourists these days, but the folks in Greece and Italy were far more friendly and even tried to speak some English, some did very well. But Barcelona was not as welcoming.

    Barcelona completely charmed me.

Barcelona completely charmed me. It’s one of those cities that feels intimate yet full of life — everything is so walkable, which makes discovering it even more magical. Wandering through its streets feels like stepping into a storybook. Around every corner there’s a new architectural wonder or historical detail that takes your breath away. The works of Gaudí are truly something else — surreal, whimsical, and deeply inspiring. From the iconic Sagrada Família to hidden gems like Casa Vicens (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), every building feels like a piece of art. What I loved most was how easy it was to simply stroll and stumble across beauty — whether it’s a mosaic-covered bench, a charming local café, or the curve of a building that looks like it belongs in a dream. Barcelona has this unique ability to make you feel both at home and completely enchanted.

The best thing about this hotel is the location—you step outside, and all of Barcelona is at your fingertips. It was so convenient to pop back in to drop off my shopping bags, take a quick nap, or change outfits before heading out again. The staff were incredibly polite and accommodating, from check-in to booking my 2 a.m. taxi to the airport. Plus, the cleanliness was spotless. Highly recommend!
