Aussie Way Lodge 4 stars

Brisbane

Aussie Way Lodge holds awards from Trip Advisor and offers a variety of room types, including Singles, Doubles and 4-bed dormitory rooms. It offers 2 shared lounge areas with a TV, shared kitchen facilities, tourist information, lockers for your valuables and street parking is available on request. The house has a 'no alcohol' policy. This was probably one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Basically an old, historic home in a residential area that's been converted into a sort of guesthouse. The staff is friendly and communicable, even leaving a key and check-in info for me when I arrived late due to a delayed flight. Wifi is good, rooms are spacious, very homey and cozy feel. Beds are incredibly comfortable! I had an entire female dorm (more like a bedroom with 4 bunks) to myself with a walk-out front porch, great for morning coffee. Not a party hostel, but still social enough, and within walking distance to all shops/restaurants/bars/amenities. Nice TV in the rec room, pool, and clean kitchen. An amazing and refreshing 2 day stay! I'll be back again!

Hostels. What are they?

Way more than just a cheap place to sleep, hostels are a social way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens or games rooms are great ways to swap tips, tricks and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long, long way since the first youth hostel opened in 1912. From budget 'crash-pads' to five-star 'poshtels', today, hostels are for everybody, so whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll find most hostels are cheaper than a local hotel and far more fun.
