United StatesTolli Hostel is a quaint, old-fashioned boarding house in a quiet neighborhood right on the border between Estonia and Latvia. My daughter and I took a two bedroom private room. The host is friendly, the rooms are comfy, and I almost thought we were the only guests because it was so quiet (but the cars out front kept moving, so obviously there were plenty of others coming and going). We took the train from Tartu, then a bus which stops not far from the hostel. You can ride the bus back and forth to the center of town, but it's close enough that we mostly just walked. Valga/Valka is a lovely little town, and it doesn't take long by bus to get to Ērģeme Castle, which is definitely worth seeing.
