Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

“Bunks were very crowded - rooms were not locked at night though it said they would be. In general very clean - quite expensive. Very good atmosphere in cafe. Some of the usual youth hostel touches such as free bread teabags and share box in the free basic breakfast to be included were missing so it was quite expensive overall. There was quite a lot of traffic outside but the location was very close to good walks and rail links and therefore a very convenient and helpful location.”

“It is great accommodation for a great price. I slept on one of the shared rooms and it was large with ample spaces, and the house they're in has a big kitchen with diner, a big living room with tv and games, a quiet room(!), and a backyard. It is located near a very little town called Southease, but there's nothing around the hostel, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, and a great gateway to the South Downs, you got it. Also, not included, but great breakfast.”

“The hostel is just 4 minutes away from the train station to town centre (Lewes or Newhaven). I got the room for 4 which is perfect for our group. We got the sink inside so that we didn't have to wait so long to get things done. The kitchen was very well-equipped with 2 ovens, a microwave, plenty of plates, knives, forks, cups, pans and so on.”

“This is a smart, newly re-conditioned hostel in a great locations for walkers - it is right on the South Downs Way and with a railway station one minute's walk away. The facilities are better than you'd reasonably expect from a hostel, but it is still a hostel!”
