“Friendly staff. Fantastic building and grounds. Great view over harbour. Clean and spacious room. Clean bathroom and toilet. Quiet and undisturbed. Lovely breakfast. Enjoyed a free ticket to Whitby Abbey next to hostel. Brilliant value for money ..... 4 friends £20.00 a night each !!! (breakfast extra).”
“Staff are aware they are running a hostel and there were no "airs" about it, I. E. In some hostels you have staff acting as though they owned the place and were not primarily catering to backpackers, low-budget travelers or the homeless who managed to get together enough money in order to spend the night under a roof and not out in the open. Staff were very down to earth and accommodating, very friendly and welcoming.”
“Amazing location. Five of us (friends) shared a dorm with a view of the Abbey. Beds were comfy, the room was nice and warm. The shower was good. It was perfect for our needs. Whitby is wonderful, there is so much to see and do. The hostel is up on the hill so you have to go up and down the 101 steps if you are walking, but a taxi is only £5 if you are feeling lazy or can't manage the steps back up. Don't let that put you off though, it's quite an easy climb.”
“Comfortable beds - ensuite facilities were clean. Great location. Warm welcome when we arrived. The tea shop attached to the youth hostel offered lovely coffee and cake at reasonable prices too! :)”
“Staff very friendly and helpful. We were traveling with three children of varying ages and the youth hostel had a range of interesting things for them to do. They loved the table football. We will stay there again. We recommended it to a friend who took his family the following week.”
