I intended to stay here for only 1 night, but it ended up being 4 because I loved it so much. I’ve stayed in a fair amount of hostels as a solo traveler, but this is one of the best I’ve ever stayed at. It is situated close to the beach & restaurant area, & the property itself has a big common area & a beautiful outside area to meet & hang out with staff & other travelers. what makes this place unique, however, is the people who run it - they are so friendly, welcoming, & really care about you. If you are thinking of coming to varkala, then “Hostel Stories” is where you want to stay at for the good vibes!

The location is awsome, really close to all of the restaurants and shops on the cliff John and Karthick are very nice and help you with anything, they have a kitchen that the guests can use and when they make food they will gladly give some to the guests. They made me feel very welcome and I stayed there for more than a week because I loved being in Varkala and in this property. The rooms and the showers are quite clean and the view from the roof is amazing! Would come again if I visit Varkala in the future. Very recommended!

Such a calm and peaceful stay and great hosts who made me feel at home. Kitchen and terrace are nice and the walls are full of childhood cartoon art and even I got to paint one. Shafeeq is the best chef with amazing food. I'd definitely recommend to solo travelers, it's a great place to meet people, play games and enjoy karaoke nights.

The hosts Nithin, Ani and Sangeetha were amazing. The cliff is just a 10min walk from the hostel. Met a lot of fellow solo travelers. Food was good and reasonably priced.

First off, the staff were all awesome here: front of house and back. Everyone is so friendly & accommodating. Love the cafe area outside to chill, eat, read, party, whatever…lots of common areas here. There’s a huge backyard with room to roam/post up. The beds are standard but comfy. Facilities are cleaned daily so everything’s tip top. This place is only 5min walk to the beach. Lots of touristy shops/restaurants on the cliffs there, so you have shopping/food, but ask the staff where to eat. They know the good spots.

Such a fantastic hostel!!! Staff super welcoming and create a lovely atmosphere, getting people together for sunset swims and lunches out, really nice communal areas and shaded spots with hammocks, lovely affordable food if you can't be bothered to take a short walk to any of the nice cheap spots nearby. Just a great hostel with top people. A reason to come back to Varkala!!!

The vibes were immaculate; it's a quiet and lovely place, comfortably arranged. Lots of privacy in the beds; big lockers; nice staff. Location is a few meters away from the main area so it's quiet at night, but it takes like 2 min to walk to the busy areas. AC works very well.
