We liked this place a lot. We booked a private room and even got a private bathroom to go with it. The parking is right next to the building and the shared kitchen space is super handy. The staff was always lovely and helpful.

I loved the friendly atmosphere there! Very nice and friendly owner and staffs, very clean kitchen and comfortable lounge and female dormitory. I enjoyed meeting people in a homie vibes. And location is perfect!! Highly recommended!! 👍👍👍

    Great location, the people you stay with here you can easily make friendships and such a good atmosphere. Bonus Points as they have a Cute Golden Retriever Puppy in residence. I wished I stayed longer as Uptown Backpackers feels like a 2nd Family.

    The staff were super friendly! Check in and out was so quick and easy, the room was comfortable, great location and I loved that the female dorm had a keypad lock instead of a key for that extra sense of security! I would highly recommend this hostel!

    In terms of youth hostels, it was the best accommodation I have had so far in New Zealand. Unpretentious but comfortable, with everything you need, in a great location and with friendly and helpful staff.
