Communication with the host was great and I very much appreciate all the info about busses and transport to make the most out of my limited time in Costa Rica. There are enough showers, sinks and toilets on the corridor, I never had to wait to use one. The space is clean, with high ceiling and airy. I loved the fact that they have paper towels and the whole digital codes with clear instructions on what to use where.

Staff at the hostel are available to provide advice at the 24-hour front desk. Small hostel with the family living on premise. They were very kind and accommodating. Everything was kept very clean. Excellent wifi. A good portion of San Jose is a little dangerous these days but this neighhborhood felt quite safe. It has quite a few restaurants (and a good gym) within walking distance but lacks a nearby laundry service and not offered by the hostel. Something to ponder if you plan on staying longer. Bed was comfortable.

Not only it feels like home to me, it's also a very social hostel to meet other fellow backpackers. The staff are super nice, friendly and helpful, always there to help you with any inquiries. The hostel is clean and comfy, it's also close to the supermarkets, city buses and airport shuttle. I've stayed at Gaudys 3 times now and it is the only hostel I will stay when I'm in town! The hotel is perfectly located, just a short walk from one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods. It's close enough to enjoy the energy but far enough to avoid the hassle. My room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I especially appreciated the peace and quiet. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were able to assist me with anything I needed, including extending my stay on short notice. Although I wasn’t feeling well and unfortunately missed the breakfast, I truly appreciated the thoughtful service. The highlight of my stay was the room itself, which had a very comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. Casa Escalante offers great value for money. I felt right at home and will certainly return the next time I'm in San José!
