Beautiful location - for me it was worth it even though it is about a 30 minute walk to the main tourist street. Honestly it is nice being away from the tourist trap main drag even though I was only there for a few days. The road that leads to the hostel has lots of shops, some restaurants and bars, the sister hostel’s travel cafe, and Rachna Bookstore for great books and food. So if you are around for a while its great. The property is set in dense greenery, and does indeed have lots of birdlife. Great common spaces, great balconies, great food for the set dinners (I didn’t have the breakfast or lunch), and the staff is super knowledgeable, especially Saran. They have a deeper and somewhat offbeat lost of things to do in Gangtok, and will organize hikes for groups from the hostel. The standout for me here was the design - an amazing space compared to any other hostel I’ve been to in India. And very clean :)

I had such a lovely time at Mellow Fellow, I stayed for over a week. The staff, especially Sandi and Annie, are great people who really made the stay special. They are fun, friendly, and have a wealth of knowledge about Sikkim. The facilities are also very comfortable, with clean rooms and a vibey common area. Of course, the location is also perfect for exploring MG Marg with dozens of restaurants nearby. Mellow fellow should be your only choice when visiting Gangtok.

Amazing people and have a genuine heart to help the travellers. The place is really very good, neat n tidy, at a very good location. The food they serve is also amazing with complimentary breakfast. No tension even if you end up showing to them at late night, they have your back. They have a perfect solution for all your queries n help you need, be it food, stay, places to roam around, arranging vehicles to travel around with Permits if needed. Can’t thank them for all the efforts they have put to make our travel n trip safe n enjoyable. Not only the owners but the other staff as well cooks, cleaning staff, front desk staff. Had a really great time and was fortunate to come across some nice co-travellers. THANK YOU FROM BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
