Wild Kea Lodge Franz Josef offers a modern accommodation across three wings in the Franz Josef Glacier Village, just a10-minute drive from Franz Josef Glacier and 30-40 minutes for Fox Glacier. This 'hostel' is newly finished with a comfy room, clean shared bathrooms (loo and shower in one room plus single loo and single shower room). Espresso machine in the dining room, free of charge, and spacious kitchen prep area plus large dining area. Floral art work to brighten the halls. Warm scones offered on arrival. Probably the best hostel we've ever stayed in and reasonably priced compared to other hostels. Right off the main road. Just a few minutes walk to the local grocery shop.

The beds in dorms are comfortable and clean, each bed has its own light, shelf and socket and even coat hanger! The bathrooms are very clean. The kitchen is well equipped and clean.

This old manor is beautiful and the kitchen is very well equipped and our host provides us with everything we need to make good cooking. The garden is also nice. I highly recommend it

Extra covers for the bed if you are cold, or you can turn the heater on. There is free bread, milk, cereal, jam, etc. for breakfast. Also different coffees and teas. Lots of free parking around the hostel. 2min to Queens park and 15min to city center. Merlyn was lovely,. Beth as well. She borrowed me her rain jacket because I forgot mine at home.

This place is adorable and awesome to get your forest lodge experience. Margie, the care taker, is a beautiful soul and made us feel right at home

The owner was super friendly and great to chat to, a really funny guy. The accommodation was clean and the veranda was lovely. There were loads of birds in the bushes. The veranda is shared but the people next to us weren’t a bother at all. Because there are only 8 cabins everything is really relaxed and quiet which is really nice. It is also only a short drive down to Marahau.

Awesome hostel! Meg was amazing and super hospitable. The facilities were incredible with heaps of stuff to do and an awesome cinema room. Everything was clean and comfortable, would 100% recommend staying here.
