Villa Themistokli, at the center of the romantic city of Korça, has a long and rich history. The villa currently serves as a hotel, restaurant, and bar. Once the home of Albanian patriot and nationalist Themistokli Gërmenji, the villa is now a living museum and celebrates his rich contributions to not only the city of Korçë but all of Albania. Before the first World War, Gërmenji fought strongly for an independent state of Korça, which spearheaded a national awakening and a strong sense of Albanian identity that eventually led to an independent Albanian state. Maintaining its historical integrity, the villa is close to 300 years old and contains original artifacts and documents from Gërmenji’s life and was once a center for Albanian patriots and intellectuals to gather and discuss the protection of Albanian identity. To this day, the villa continues to serve as the hub of intellectual life in Korça as well as the entire country and has hosted dignitaries, famous writers, artists, politicians, and a new generation of Albanian youth.

The Villa is at the center of Korça and is located by the Resurrection of Christ Cathedral. It is located on a pedestrian boulevard full of restaurants, bars, and a lively night life. Across the street from the Villa stands the first national Albanian school and next to the villa is the Gjon Mili Photography Museum, which celebrates and exhibits the works of the famous American-Albanian photographer. The villa is also close to the museum of famous Albanian painter, Vangjush Mio. The bazzar, which was once a hub of Korca’s trade and commerce, is also a short walk away from the Villa. Korça’s bus terminal is also about a kilometer away.
