The facilities were older, but well kept. The camp kitchen, and the people were wonderful. Location and bird life, outstanding. It is a great community of people who are passionate about wildlife, the environment, and sustainability. The camp kitchen in particular was a great place to hang out at the end of the day and watch the wildlife. The walks along Roebuck Bay were exceptional. We didn't get to do a bird tour this time, but will be back to do it in the future!

It’s a not for profit organization and it gives people to learn a lot about birds. The bathrooms and kitchen were great and the new information centre, when it opens, will be a wonderful asset. It was a great visit.

Hello, I am wondering if an AWD car will be sufficient to get down the road? Where is the nearest grocery store? Thank youAWD vehicles usually have no problem accessing the BBO when Crab Creek Rd is dry and open (can be checked on Broome Shire road condition reports). The Broome Bird Observatory was established in 1988 by the RAOU (Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union), now BirdLife Australia, as a research and education facility, our principle aim is to work for the conservation of the migratory shorebirds which visit Roebuck Bay. It is located 25km out of Broome on the shores of Roebuck Bay, we advise using a 4WD to access our accommodation.
We’re passionate about the amazing birds that visit and live in globally-unique Roebuck Bay, and we strive to share this passion with the people of Australia and abroad to encourage the preservation of this international treasure, and our flyway, for generations to come.
Our unique surrounding include include the Roebuck Bay Marine Park, Yawuru Conservation Estate, dinosaur footprints and over 100,000 migratory shorebirds!
