Clean and crisp sheets, towels and comfortable beds. Very reasonably priced
It’s our fourth time here.
We loved Blackheath - best walks - Grand Canyon and Govet’s Leap
We also love Katoomba - many walks and lookouts
And Wentworth Falls is just a short drive or train trip to the East
So much choice, so much beauty.
Walks galore - so awe inspiring.
Peace and relaxation - perfect 4 days/3nights
Easy access by train.
But PLEASE take water with you on your walks, preferably with an electrolyte supplement. Australia can get hot, there are no taps along the walks (it’s a national park) and the walks are fairly long (3-4hrs). We saw a few people looking lightheaded and weary from dehydration - fortunately we had spare water to share.

Lovely town with lots of local stores and breathtaking views. I would say even better than Katoomba. Friendly locals. Nice walking through the town, everyone had beautiful gardens, you could tell they really make an effort to make them stunning. I recommend sunrise at Govetts Leap Lookout, hiking in Katoomba either using Scenic world facilities for less mobile visitors or challenge yourself for a long hike around a valley. We finished our afternoon/evening at Japanese Bath House (30 min away) which was great recovery after hiking. Next day morning we visited Botanical garden which was again so beautiful with no entrance fee.

Coming back to life.
Coming back to life. A few empty shops but still a fair bit to see. Coffee places are good.Close to other centre town.areas. I have planned a second trip back in the next month or so.
The Gold club was handy for very nice bistro food. Need a car to get around. Given I was here on a Friday and Saturday it wasn't too busy.

It's less trendy than other lower mountain destinations - less like Sydney - a greater variety of restaurants & coffee shops & book shop & antique centre
Lots of easy street walks and for the fitter many bush walks
More laid back and a quieter community

Blackheath is a beautiful mountains village.
Walking the streets takes you past early style, nicely renovated mountain homes and beautiful gardens. There are quality cafes, restaurants and gift shops. My visit in October was lovely and warm, but not hot, and cooler overnight.
The train station is convenient to the town centre.

Blackheath is on the Blue Mts train line and quite accessible but a car is of help if you wish to visit other points along the line eg Katoomba and Leura, Megalong Valley or Jenolan Caves. A car is also a necessity if you are into hiking the trails as most are not near public transport. Blackheath has a great village atmosphere - pubs, antiques, retail and more and is a more economical place to centre yourself than Katoomba or Leura. In itself it is a walkable village.
The cottage had obviously been recently renovated and was just fantastic. The kitchen was well equipped, including necessary pantry items, tea and coffee. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was very cosy, particularly when the wood fire was lit. Well equipped bathroom with a great tub. There were also local attraction books with suggestions included, and board games for when it was too cold to venture out. Lots of local cafes and restaurants close by.
Suggestion: If you are booking with kid(s), make sure to take Room 16 (2 Beds + the Bunk Bed). Even though is it physically possible to stay with 1 child in the Single Rooms With Toilet, there is no place to put your luggage because it is tiny. We moved to Room 16 on the second day as we (two of us) had a toddler. Quiet location, all music downstairs stops at 11pm. Trivia: Charles Darwin (yes, him!) has stayed at this hotel!
Great location with views and surrounded by gardens. Large windows on three sides of the comfortable stand-alone studio. Very well furnished with excellent kitchenette and very generous selection of complementary snacks, drinks, fresh fruit, cereals, teas etc. Lovely deck, friendly host and the freedom to wander around the gardens as well as a short drive to spectacular lookouts over the Grose Valley, or to Blackheath village.
The facilities were very clean and comfortable and welcoming. Everything we needed was present and functioned well. Breakfast supplies were plentiful and we particularly enjoyed the home made muesli.
There was off street parking and a private entrance. The neighbourhood was quiet.
Blackheath is a great place to stay in the Blue Mountains as it is central to many attractions but has a lovely village vibe.
Calamandah House was chosen for its location in Blackheath, which made it accessible to the Blue Mts walking tracks as this was largely a hiking holiday. The three bedrooms met the requirements of three individual adults ( as we were). The house is extremely well equipped in all respects, including an interesting library. Well kept grounds which would be quite picturesque in spring.
I felt so welcome as soon as I arrived. The property and general location is amazing. The rooms are great and the shared spaces are beautiful. I enjoyed the fresh fruit, yoghurt and ham and cheese croissants for breakfast before I went out for my hikes during the day. Cafes, restaurants and pubs close by. Everything was extremely well organised.
Blackheath Motor Inn is a leafy, comfortable, seventies style motel. Located on the Great Western Highway rooms facing the road and railway do get some noise, but it is a a short walk from the pubs and restaurants of Blackheath. Rooms are a good size, beds are comfortable, staff helpful and overall it is a good choice for anyone on a budget.
We love the amazing design, giving the house a vintage vibe and comfy to live in. It also provides us with everything we need and is also pet-friendly which makes our holiday trip a whole lot easier as many others do not allow pets. The location is also convenient to get food--only 15 minutes away from Katoomba.
Our second time at the cottage and once again a magical place for my kids and I to relax in and soak up the beauty and peaceful nature of Blackheath and the Blue Mountains more generally. We will be back again later this year for sure.
Easy contactless check in and check out. Location is on the highway close to main part of Blackheath, which is an easy walk. Room was clean and good for a couple for a short stay. Easy on-site parking for each room.
blackheath suite was a beautiful wee cottage with everything you could need . the furnishings were of a high standard and the property spotlessly clean . the fresh sourdough provided for breakfast was delicious .
Great location close to Blackheath train station, helpful staff on messaging who let us stay late. Nice little kitchen with some bread which is great for self-caterers. Room is lovely, bigger than the photo.
Location was perfect for hiking off Govett's Leap and for walking into Blackheath for dinner.
Cottage was cozy once we had the gas fire on for a couple of hours. Bed was comfy.
Loved the cleanliness, the facilities, the cosy cottage and the property. Beautiful place to stay. A lot of thought and care is shown to guests and it makes for a lovely stay.
Extremely quiet street, easy drive to everything. nice older cottage, comfy beds loverly linen, well equipped kitchen, charming old furniture
Good heating, very tidy and clean
