An Inside Look at Curlew Cottage

We believe the house was built in the 1920's when the only houses in Hooke Street were on this side of the street overlooking paddocks. Our next door neighbour's home was the first town dairy. The home has only been in our family since 2006 and all the restoration and renovations were complete. We re-painted the interior before we opened the business. My mother was going to live here but sadly died before she got the chance. Her given name means Blackbird in Old French and as the house was named Curlew we decided to carry the bird theme throughout. We are fortunate to have many birds that feel welcome in the garden, satin bowerbirds who make their bower near the spa and deck, cheeky magpies that bounce around the garden beyond the standard roses and sparrows that love to gather in the geisha bush near the driveway and on the roof over the back verandah. We were living on site initially but we have moved back to our small acreage and now I am on site whilst our guests are with us. We have loved staying in B&Bs where the guests have full use of the facilities so that is what we have created for you, so unpack your bags, put your books on the bedside table and enjoy your stay.

The locality I would say. It is a small town, which adds its own charm and character, but you should respect that restaurants are few and they can close early.

Room was smaller then described Bed was only a double size No ensuite bathroom in room Had to share the bathroom / toilet (in same room) which was down the hall, with other guests. This is not good enough.
