Our home was hand dug in the 70's and is renowned for its rock and timber work. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful dugouts in Coober Pedy, it exudes a lovely atmosphere with each weave and turn throughout. Purchased in 1997 it has been an ongoing love project of improving and upkeep. Roomy with 3 bedrooms, a large lounge, living area, complete kitchen, 1 bathroom (2nd b/room available by end November) sleeps 9, linen included, BBQ area, internet, spa bath, ample parking. A fireplace for a homely feel, also fans throughout. Booked out as a whole home. Travelling as a larger group? Dinky Di's is right next door, large living. sleeps 7, 2 loos, 2 showers. Please note: MOBILITY RESTRICTIONS Di's Place has 2 steps down into the main bedroom, toilet hall is downward on an uneven surface with a handrail. No handrail in the toilet. It is not suitable for a w/chair or wheel aid. Dinky Di's Dugout, next door may be more suitable for you, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, toilets though are NOT wheelchair accessible, aid OK.

Coober Pedy is unique and renowned as being the opal capitol of the world. Situated halfway between Alice Springs and Adelaide; and only 6 hours from the glorious wonder of Uluru (Ayers Rock), The Red Centre it is steeped in history of opal mining and outback. It hosts beautiful shops, restaurants, tours and attractions including the beautiful Breakaways and Painted Desert; and the famous dog fence which was originally named The Rabbit Proof Fence which curls north and south east around Coober Pedy. The Dog Fence is the longest fence in the world, stretching 5300km separating dingoes in the north from the southern sheep grazing country. There are many different tours available to satisfy any travelers curiosity and questions relating to the history of our fabulous multi cultural town and surrounding outback. Learn about opal and wonder at the different styles of mining, both old and new by visiting the renowned Old Timers Mine. Experience machinery working at Toms mine. Maybe a round of golf? our golf club is sister to St Andrews, England; shoot a handgun or rifle at our shooting club Sat and Sun mornings from 10-12. Enjoy a flick at the local Drive in, open most Saturday evenings. Finish the day with a glass of wine overlooking the break-a-ways on sunset, or a sunset dinner at The Big Winch which overlooks the whole town. We have beautiful underground churches - Catacomb, Catholic and beautiful Serbian church. All open. Coober Pedy hosts Races each August, a Gem show at Easter and an opal festival in June each year.
