South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Huippukohde historiasta kiinnostuneille on Rippon Lea Estate. Se on lyhyen junamatkan päässä oleva hieno vanha kartano, jota ympäröi valtava puutarha. Mahtava opas kertoi kartanosta ja sen asukkaista. Toinen mielenkiintoinen kohde on Old Treasury Building. Tässä museossa kuvien ja tekstien avulla kerrotaan Melbournen historiaa, kultakuumeen aikaa ja miten ihmiset silloin elivät ja mitä töitä tekivät. Tämän museon lähellä on myös Captain Cooks cottage, jossa myös kannattaa poiketa. Melbournessa on varmasti mieluisaa tekemistä tai olemista jokaiselle. Kaupungin tunnelma on rento ja liikkuminen siellä helppoa. Ratikalla pääsee joka paikkaan. Kaupungissa on hienoja museoita ja julkisia tiloja. On myös kulttuuria, esim. teatteria ja musikaaleja. Kahvila- ja ravintolatarjonta on ihan omaa luokkaansa. On paljon etnisiä ravintoloita, myös perinteistä hyvää pubiruokaa löytää helposti. Marraskuinen sää ehkä vähän yllätti, välillä oli todella viileää ja sateista, välillä taas kovaakin hellettä.
