On entry the heating was on, which was a pleasant surprise. Made all the better as it was a cold miserable day outside. Wood for the woodheater was stacked nicely and the fire prepared ready to light. The bed was so comfortable we both slept beautifully and the owners were easy to communicate with prior.

Fortuna Cottage is just a 2-minute walk from Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens and a 15-minute walk from Daylesford town center. It is an 8-minute drive from Sailor's Falls and a 9-minute drive from Jubilee Lake.

Fortuna Cottage is spacious, light and recently refurbished with style and quality, whilst retaining all the charm of this miner’s cottage (built 1867). You’re guaranteed to enjoy a cosy, comfortable, relaxing and revitalising stay at Fortuna Cottage. The cottage is centrally located with the Wombat Hill Gardens a 3 minute walk. Vincent Street is a 10 minute walk downhill (which means uphill on the way back!).
Daylesford is a beautiful place to stay. It has four distinct seasons so the surrounding countryside changes with each season. It is only 1.5 hours from Melbourne so you can maximise your time here. There are lovely walks in the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens and around Daylesford Lake. Vincent Street offers interesting little galleries, retail therapy and cafes. For special occasions Lake House, Kazuki's and Mercato offer superb dining. For something different - try Daylesford Cidery and Daylesford Wine Tours. If horse riding is your thing, Hepburn Lagoon Trail Rides cater to all ages and experience with horses. For children, there is a playground in Stanbridge Street (a 10 minute walk from Fortuna Cottage); there is also a playground in Daylesford Lake and at Jubilee Lake. In summer, there is an outdoor pool, which is great for children and adults alike; you can also swim in the Lake. During the Christmas school holidays, the cinema screens the latest children's films. In short, Daylesford offers something for everyone. It is a friendly, inclusive, safe community. You will feel welcome!
