Location to explore Guildford was exceptional. The breakfast room was closed when we were there and we didn't really have much interaction with staff but it was the PERFECT place for our weekend break. Highly recommend this beautiful place.

It was a lovely location and the converted, historic building was delightful. John was a delightful host and very friendly. The gardens are beautiful and the walk in the reserve out the back excellent. The nearby Rose and Crown was a great venue for breakfast on Sunday.

    Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. yes smoking is permitted on one of the two terraces located at the back of rooms in the garden area.

Jon and Shelley are passionate about two things: providing you with a great stay, and the environment, which is reflected by the way Guildford River Retreat is run. Jon is a keen gardener, specialising in cycads as can be seen in the extensive gardens. Shelley, your host, aims to go above and beyond to help you with whatever you need. Together they have created a haven within the city where you can visit, recharge and rest.

Property info

Guildford River Retreat is a family run, eco-friendly boutique hotel within a heritage listed building. Located by the Swan River in the historic hamlet of Guildford, we are within walking distance of all the eateries, pubs and antique stores. The entire site is powered by solar energy and we have grey water systems in place for the extensive gardens. We also advocate for guests to recycle mindfully and have a recycling station for them to do so. Our gardens are organic and produce a variety of fruit and vegetables throughout the year, with extensive flower gardens and insect friendly habitats to promote healthy environments. We strive to continually do better and to provide guests with an opportunity to slow down without leaving the city.
