  • Are there washing facilities available at Harrison House?
    Hi at the moment no there is not. There are 2 laundromats in town and we do plan on adding a guest laundry in the future.

  • would you allow a small household to visit with us
    Our guest areas are configured to accommodate 6 in-house guests only. We do have outdoor areas that could be used however the comfort of all guests would be our biggest consideration. Happy to discuss with you direct via phone

  • Hello, we were hoping to stay at your palace in Strahan. Were you happy for us to bring our 2 year old if we bring our own portable cot? Thank you.
    Hi We are sorry Harrison House is simply not set up to cater for young children. It does extend beyond the sleeping arrangements and considers the safety for young children and the comfort of your family and other guests.

    Hi Tanya, Harrison House is not able to accommodate pets, as our gardens are open to the Western Wilds where the abundant birds and local wildlife are free to roam. Please try Kerrellie Cottages Strahan, they are pet friendly. Kind Regards, Ken & Jo

  • Hello I see it mentions no children. Would our 10 year old daughter be classified as a child We are holidaying from SA in April and would love to stay a night She can share our bed if allowable
    Harrison House offers traditionally hosted boutique style accommodation. Our King rooms are designed to cater for 2 people with no ability to add additional beds. As such we are sorry we would not be able to comfortably accommodate your request.

Harrison House is a traditional Bed and Breakfast offering boutique style hosted accommodation and includes a full cooked breakfast made to order. Set atop a hill amidst an acre of gardens on the edge of the wilderness, the house is just a short drive or a leisurely 15-minute stroll from the historic township of Strahan on the shores of Macquarie Harbour. One of the original homes built circa 1899 this historic house has been recently restored and renovated with the comfort of guests in mind. The three King Rooms are well appointed each with a luxurious king-size bed and modern private ensuite bathroom. A scrumptious home cooked breakfast is served daily in the Guest Dining Room and is the perfect start to your day. The Guests Cafe' Nook for Tea & Coffee or the Honesty Bar will keep you refreshed. There are comfy armchairs in your room or you can relax in the Guest Lounge in front of the wood fire. Outside take in the fresh air on the verandah or wander the gardens to share time with the abundant birds and wildlife in this tranquil setting.
Ken and Jo-Ann are the owners of Harrison House and will be there to welcome you on arrival. They both enjoy sharing their local knowledge and can help you with activities, eateries and some of the history of the House and Strahan. Whilst your stay will be hosted you can count on discretion allowing you privacy when enjoying the House and Garden.
Located on the West Coast of Tasmania the township of Strahan is built on the shores of beautiful Macquarie Harbour. Once a booming port the town and surrounds are full of history, natural beauty and many tourist attractions including the UNESCO World Heritage Area of the Gordon River and surrounding rainforest of ancient Huon Pine and King Billy Pine. The most popular activity being the cruise around the Harbour which includes going through the Heads - Hells Gates, a guided tour of Sarah Island and a cruise down the Gordon River itself to Heritage Landing. Enjoy the cruise with the locally owned World Heritage Cruises operating for over 125 years. Visitors to Strahan also enjoy: * Ocean Beach * People's Park and Hogarth Falls * West Coast Wilderness Railway * Walk on the Esplanade following the old train lines * Morrison's sawmill and of course just relaxing at Harrison House is always a favorite.
