I am a building contractor and occasional DJ based in the Upper Blue Mountains 1.5hrs drive West of Sydney. Happily married with 2 kids and another on the way, my family means everything to me.
Kashmir is an original miners cottage dating back to the 19th Century when Katoomba, previously known as "The Crushers" was little more than a scattered collection of dwellings. Only a short walk to "Norths Siding" loading platform (near Shell Corner on the old Great Western Highway) the original residents would have commuted to work at Katoomba Coal & Shale Mine via a dual track cable tramway that descended, undulating from "North's Siding" to "The Engine Bank" - now Scenic World - and continued down the cable haulage way, now known as the Scenic Railway, to the mine below. This same miners cottage was rescued from demolition in 2011 by my wife Riannon who saw something that was worth saving and has been our family home up until recently. As a builder in the Upper Blue Mountains I have built lots of new homes and completed all kinds of alterations and additions to existing homes in the area. There is nothing that quite compares though, to the extreme transformation from the dilapidated miners cottage to the fantastic mountains holiday retreat now known as Kashmir!
