We used this motel as a stopping point for a visit to Pedder Lake, which was convenient. The motel is a quirky refurbishment of quite an old motel. It suited us for 2 nights, but their restaurant was out of action because of a function. We slept well in the single beds and not worried by road noise.

Amazing breakfast and Peter is a skilled chef who gave us options to choose from. This is being a guest in Peter's quirky, art-filled home, and he provides a nice bedroom and separate seating area for his guests. My friend loved the bathtub, jets and bubbles. We chose this as a central location between MONA and Mount Field National Park, and it was perfect for that.

We love the location and we love the retro feel. It was special to be upgraded to a river view on this visit. And the ducks welcomed us through the glass doors - so cute!
Great motel facilities, clean and comfortable.

The personal touch at breakfast was lovely.
The personal touch at breakfast was lovely. The home made poached pears and cinnamon was delicious. Breakfast was included in the price offered. Lovely old Inn, perfect for travellers. Hotel 100m up the road with lovely food. Made to feel very welcome. Asked for preferences for time of breakfast and any dietary preferences. Set on a side road, but just off the main road. Very quiet overnight.

I visit the New Norfolk area to connect with my family. There isn't a heck of a lot to do in the town itself, but if you enjoy quiet towns with lots of places to visit via car, then New Norfolk has you covered!

Small town, but has everything you need.
Small town, but has everything you need. Big supermarkets, pubs, bottle shops, chemist all amenities. Everything you need for a good stay at one of the many mountain cabins etc. it’s about 30 mins from Hobart and about an hour from the airport - it’s on the other side of Hobart from the airport. You need a car… there is some public transportation but very much for the locals tourists will need their own transport. Most things like port Arthur and cascade or the air walks are an hour to an hour and a half away (so 2 - 3 hrs round trip. Plan ahead. Friendly people. Good option if you don’t want to pay huge amounts in the busy seasons (mainly mofo). Probably best for adults mostly. Not much for the kids, which was perfect for us as everything was very calm.

It was an overnight stay, From Northern Tasmania, on the way to Lake Pedder Wilderness Lodge. We could walk into town for dinner. We could get petrol, a few groceries & a little alcohol the next day, before heading off to our final destination, being Lake Pedder, it was pleasant and stress free. An alternative to overnighting in Hobart….
This is a "roadside" style hotel with no frills but offering a clean room with a decent bed and shower, ok heating and due to it offering free parking, serves as space for you to rest when driving around Tasmania.
It is very close to New Nortfolk's top restaurant (The Agrarian Kitchen Eatery) allowing you to enjoy the restaurant cocktails and wine-list without worrying about how to get back to Hobart.
I recommend this property to anyone looking for a basic hotel or just a place to crash after a nice feast.
This is such a quirky little spot. It is spotless and has had so much love and personality put into the hotel it was like Aladdin's Cave, everywhere you looked had something else to study/ask questions about. Hospitality was fantastic. Tim goes out of his way to welcome you and makes you feel right at home without intruding on your own need for privacy.
We received such a sincere welcome from Michael(the host) on arrival which set the whole stay up. The ambience of the room was delightful and both the room and bathroom were spotless. Every detail was thought of right down to the home made biscuits. Such a quiet setting. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great stay in New Norfolk.
Location was excellent for the event I was attending, and very close to central New Norfolk too.
Individualised breakfast exceptional, great range of choices, prepared for exactly when I needed it.
Amazing choice of bathrooms, including fabulous spa bath.
Loved getting to meet Woolfie the dog - and the host Peter too of course :)
Well located house on the main road into New Norfolk, Peter has set up a lovely comfortable room with adjoining lounge, toilet and bathroom are nearby. Peter served a delicious breakfast and was very helpful with directions and places to see in the area. Peter has a dog in the house who is quiet and keeps to himself.
The accommodation was cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. I started my day early and the owner very kindly brought me breakfast items to my room the evening before so that I could be up and gone any time as I had tradesmen to meet with who are working on our new home we have purchased in New Norfolk.
I always receive fantastic service when I stay here. Everybody is friendly and it is prefect for my weekend escapes as it is in a prime location for weekend drives in the greater Hobart area. Well done to everyone at the New Norfolk Junction Motel
Great staying in a very old stable with modern conveniences. The breakfast was a banquet if wanted but the spread was tasty & expansive.
The Old Colony Inn is within easy walking to the Bush Inn for a great evening meal.
The House presentation was impeccable, Hospitality was generous, authentic and real. Breakfast was perfection on a plate. An absolute pleasure and somewhere to loose yourself and relax in the lap of understated luxury.
This is a quaint hotel originally built in 1835, so don't expect all the mod cons. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was exceptional.
New Norfolk is an interesting town, with easy access to Hobart, the cottages once again was great to stay in,and being right on the water where you even have a jetty that you can sit and enjoy
