We had the garden view room and it was so beautiful to look out the window and that’s what you saw. The bed was super comfy and everything was very clean.

There was no breakfast only juice offered. The room was a great size, & very warm & private. Bathroom facility's were beautiful, a very deep bath to soak in with a lovely view. The bed was very comfortable and it was great to see it had an electric blanket on it as well. The freshly squeezed juice was really good.

The host Cherie was lovely and made us feel very welcome also gave us some helpful information re restaurants and places to go. The accommodation was very modern and clean. We had the Garden View room and it was lovely to sit on our balcony enjoying the beautiful views of the garden.

Signal Box Short Stay is a newly built house with rammed earth walls, double glazing, water saving, solar power, and passive solar design. Views to the north are special as is the location next to the Puffing Billy Line. The garden is extensive and guests may take advantage of secluded seating there. Peace and Quiet; Rest, Relaxation and Revival assured!
Gardening and walking are special pastimes. Designing, building and maintaining the property keeps me busy so that others may enjoy it. Signal Box is designed and project built by the owner. Rammed earth, natural materials and sustainability are some of my passions. The gardens were established in 2004 before the subdivision but they are a work in progress. Rock stairs and garden rooms designed by Phillip Johnstone Landscapes have been enhanced by the Cherie.
The Puffing Billy steam train passes within 20 metres of The Signal Box B&B. The train whistle can be heard in the distance as it approaches Gembrook station, just 500 metres from the accommodation. Many of Gembrooks' buildings are from a by gone railway era. Gembrook is noted for its expansive views over farmland to the mountains. Tractors and cattle are visible and provide an interest and a feeling city dwellers love to experience. Many of the forests remain. Just 500m from the Signal Box is a lovely walking track through the forest - giant mountain ash trees and fern trees are in abundance. For those that wish to partake of the comforts of city life, cafes and restaurants of a high standard are available within walking distance. The walking track that links Gembrook to Emerald Lake Park is part of the National Trail. People who stay at Signal Box can bring bikes, or walk the trail. For those who wish to use Gembrook as a base from which to explore surrounding areas within an hours drive are Yarra Valley Vineyards; Mount Dandenong restaurants and shops; Healesville Sanctuary with its Australian animals and birds and beaches of Mornington Peninsular, Kilcunda, or Westernport Bay.
