We stayed at the Storekeeper's on our way to Maria island ferry. The house is about 25 min to the ferry, so this is an excellent option if want to catch the 8:30am ferry, especially if there are more than 2 people in your party The house is very...

The place was clean and beds comfy. The hosts added all the lovely little touches such as preparing the fireplaces so that all we had to do was add a match to light up a fire. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a decent coffee maker and milk...

Every little detail was thought of - a fireplace already to go - dinner options if required - breakfast provisions - local information - reading materials - and a comfy bed. It was an easy drive to the airport the following day.

The Storekeeper's Boutique Accommodation is a beautifully appointed 1840s sandstone cottage with a contemporary edge. Located next to the original Buckland General Store, the cottage was the shopkeeper's residence. The Storekeeper's is operated by Twamley Farm, which is just a short drive from the village of Buckland. Our guests have full access to wander amongst the historic buildings at the farm, meet the animals, walk, mountain bike or get involved in the farm activities.
Our family has lived and farmed in the Buckland area on the East Coast of Tasmania since the 1840s. We are passionate about historic buildings and allowing others to enjoy the pleasure of these buildings with a modern and contemporary edge. The Storekeeper's Boutique Accommodation, The Stable at Twamley Farm and most recently the Farm Pod are the first of many such properties we hope to offer to visitors in order to experience a unique and authentic visit to Tasmania. We understand the importance of attention to detail, quality and aesthetics in creating an enjoyable and indulgent short break experience. We're also very excited about where our food and wine culture is going in Tasmania and so aim to bring you some of the best of Tasmanian products in your experience at The Storekeeper's, Farm Pod and The Stable. We hope you truly enjoy your stay and discover something a little unique beyond the usual holiday houses and B&B's along our beautiful East Coast of Tasmania.
The Storekeeper's is situated in the sleepy main street of Buckland, with the Buckland Inn only a few doors away in Kent Street. The Buckland Inn doesn't serve meals but does serve local Tasmanian beers on tap and you can buy wine and beer to take home. There is also a roadhouse/petrol station just a few hundred metres up the road that sells basic groceries and snacks. There is an IGA supermarket located at Orford about 15 minutes up the road or stop at Sorell if you are travelling from Hobart for any additional supplies you might need. Orford also has a great wood fired pizza cafe called Scorchers. They use local ingredients and we can highly recommend the Spring Bay Seafoods pizza. Orford also has the first winery on the East Coast wine route, Darlington Vineyard. Their cool climate Pinot Noir is excellent and is definitely worth a visit to pick up a few bottles. Visit our family's working farm, operating since the 1840s, take one of many local short walks including the Convict Road to the Paradise Probation Station ruins at Orford and discover the intriguing story behind the historic St John the Baptist Church Buckland.
