Charming small town.
Charming small town. Known for wines and Argentinian-style steaks. Many companies offer Winery tours. In our experience (three times) those are designed to drink lots of table wine, but no quality wines. If you really want to taste good wines, arrange to visit any (or all) of the four largest wineries (Aranjuez, Kolberg, Campos de Solana, and La Concepcion) and ask to taste their best wines. You will be surprised how good they are. Don't be afraid to spend a little more. Still a bargain for foreign travelers. You will be disappointed if you take any of the widely publicized "Ruta del Vino" tours, except for the scenery in the cramped vans.

In Tarija life seems to be enjoyed with tranquility and confidence, possibly because time seems to be running at a different pace. Indeed, people from Tarija are who made my visit so fantastic. Living in a big city might be hectic at times, but if you are looking for a different type of adventure in which you can actually can trust good people's faith, you have to go to Tarija, and don't forget the fabulous wine!

We ended every night looking at hundreds of bright fireflies in the garden, and woke up with singing of birds. A cristaline river and waterfalls are just a couple of minutes from the hotel. Eduardo and Evelin gave us an excellent service prior our arrival and during our stay. I enjoy the company of Mulata and Lisa two very friendly dogs. It was my first time visiting Tarija, but certainly not my last one, and La Poza del Pato has won my heart.

The ice cream shop is probably the best in the city. The Casona Gloria has an added historic value being the place where the great poet Roberto Echazú was born.
