Porto Alegre is full of potential.
Porto Alegre is full of potential. However, I did not feel real safe walking by myself in some areas. On Sunday afternoon, I met a local who spoke English. She said my feelings were correct and that I needed to be VERY aware of who was around me. The town itself has an enormous amount of wonderful, old architectural beauties to behold. If you are traveling through this area, a one-day stop is sufficient.

Compared to Salvador, Recife or Rio Porto Alegre has not so much to offer. There are some museums worth a short visit, there is the botanical garden and the Orla do Guaiba, the promenade/beach at the river, where it is especially nice to go to see the sunset. the worst part is the city airport connecting flight which is Lima Peru the worst most terrible airport in the world included the working personnel of the airport and the Avianca airline as well. in addition you can buy snitching to drink or eat because is a robbery. An example a little can of domestic beer they charge 7 dollars and a little pack of potato chips 5 dollars. if you can avoid Avianca airlines connecting in Lima Peru , do it , you will thanks meVictorUruguay

I stayed in the hotel all the time so I don’t know about the neighborhood, but the hotel is great! The staff and everything. They have pool and a small gym but I didn’t use it. The breakfast is great! 6am to 10am and I could enjoy twice because I arrived there at 6:30am just to get a coffee and at 9:45am the attendant let me have the breakfast again :) Thanks!
