Host Info
This has been our home since 2010 Set on Bonhomme St, we back onto a mountain called 'Bear Hill'. It is a very quiet area of town. The house is built of Cedar and is around 40 years old. Although we live on the edge of town, you can walk to downtown in about 8 minutes, or drive in about 2 min. We have two tourist letting rooms, both having their own private bathrooms and private entrance. The rooms are situated in the lower part of the house so on a hot day in summer they remain lovely and cool but in the winter time for skiers they are nice and cozy after a day on the ski hill. Both rooms are decorated with lots of wood to give the feel of a traditional 'Canadian Log Cabin'. In the summer guests are free to sit and enjoy the mountain views from our high deck. There is a free propane BBQ on the deck and also outdoor garden furniture to use. We have free off road or on road parking that is offered on a first come / first served basis.
Originally farmers from Wales, UK, we came to Jasper National Park in 2010 after selling our Cattle Ranch in Saskatchewan, the province east of Alberta. Jan is a nurse care aid, working mainly with the elderly in the community for Alberta health & I am a guide for a local tour company year round and also work with a White Water Rafting company during the summer months. We love to meet people from all over the world, our little town of Jasper gets around 2.2 million visitors a year. We only have two letting rooms so are usually able to interact with our guests for a short time during their stay. We are usually always available to advise on walks/hikes & other things to do in the area.
Jasper National Park is the biggest park in the Canadian Rockies covering about 11000 square kilometers or 8000 square miles. We are set in one of the nicest, most popular towns in Canada, but only have 5000 year round residents. From our property you can Hike, Walk, Bike, Drive, to many famous Lakes, Canyons, Valleys, Mountain Tops and Trails. Most of our guests realise that often a 2 night stay is never long enough to see everything that this area has to offer. We are set in a valley where many mountain ranges meet. Trident Range, Maligne Range, Colin range, and Victoria Cross Range. Also there are many waterfalls to see in the area. In the summer we have an abundance of wildlife, and although there is no guarantee, you will probably see a Bear or two, Bald Eagles Mountain Goats, Big Horned Sheep, Deer, Elk, or you may even get to see a Wolf, all of which I often see on a daily basis as I go around as a guide. But like I say...there's no guarantee! We are a one hour drive from the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson, and about one hour drive from the Columbia Ice Fields, which is about 350 sq. kms & feeds 3 ocean's. You've just got to come & see !!
