Property info

Rothesay House Heritage Inn B&B is a Provincial Designated Heritage Structure and a National Listed Historic Place. Originally constructed in 1855 in the town of Brigus, Rothesay House was subsequently dismantled, transported by ship and reconstructed in the Queen Anne style at Harbour Grace in 1906. It is located on the waterfront in the Designated Heritage District of historic Harbour Grace. The property is a heritage representation of the merchant influence on the socio-economic culture of the 1800s and early 1900s in what was then the Dominion of Newfoundland. The architectural style is authentic and much of the original material remain. As an ocean harbour front property our guests can enjoy views from our guest rooms, our dining room offering sumptuous breakfast or evening dining meals or relaxing on our veranda as the fishing vessels go by. We invite you to come through our doors at Rothesay House to take a step back to another era and experience our cultural heritage and history through conversation and story.

Neighborhood info

We are located in the Designated Heritage District of Harbour Grace a town with rich history. For hundreds of years the port has been a leader in the fishing industry and today fishing vessels pass by us in the harbour as they head out to sea or return with their catch. The port is active with ship building and repair and vessels of all shapes and sizes are readily visible.. We have our historic museum just minutes from our door with themes of the fishery, piracy and aviation as well as very old stone structures within walking distance. Self guided or guided walking tours are available. Coastal hiking trails are within close proximity in the town as well as beyond. We are centrally located on The Baccalieu Trail and from here one can explore our entire trail with personalized itinerary. Seascapes of rugged coast lines of cliffs, headlands, beaches and marine wildlife all within view along our trails are an every day occurrence.
