John and Lorraine
This lovely historic cottage is located at 226 Regent Street, it is just steps away from picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake’s main street. It is an easy stroll to all three of the Shaw Festival’s theaters, many diverse restaurants and some unique shops. The cottage features beam ceilings and a see-through fireplace which showcases the functional kitchenette and comfortable living room which leads out to a beautiful wraparound porch and perennial gardens. The treasure-ridden dining room still holds the Captain’s uniform and seats 6. A 2-piece bath finishes the main floor. Upstairs, this cottage has two bedrooms, both with armoires, and one full bath with separate shower and claw-foot tub. This heritage home, circa 1800's, was completely restored in 1996 by Peter and Diane, owners of the Olde Angel Inn. During the renovations, it was revealed that the house had been framed using partly burnt timbers, probably recycled from the Angel Inn that sits next door. In 1813, the inn was burnt the ground by American Soldiers. Tunic buttons, lead musket balls and a half-penny token dated 1812 were also found on the property.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is the original Capital of Upper Canada from 1792 to 1797. Nestled along the shores of the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, we hold the distinction of being the only municipality in Canada whose elected head holds the title of Lord Mayor. 2012 was the 200th commemoration of the War of 1812. Lasting from 1812 to 1814, this was the only time any country invaded Canada. Today, millions of people from around the world travel here each year to experience our Town’s unique charm and historic sites, including Fort George and Brock’s Monument; period-restored heritage homes and Canada's first golf course. We hope you will enjoy our Old Town shopping district, which boasts of a number of quaint shops, boutiques, restaurants and spas, as well as public and private art galleries, the centuries-old Court House, museums, breath-taking parks and gardens, as well as over 30 wineries and countless vineyards (many of which produce our world-class ice wine), and of course, the renowned Shaw Festival Theatre.
