Travelling with my dog, who was welcomed and very happy to be next to a terrific walking trail that went for miles along the water…perfect!

This beautiful home is at a great location and has so many activities to keep us occupied.
Shenstone Motor Inn and Restaurant is located in Wiarton. This motel has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom. Free WiFi and on-site parking are available.
I grew up and lived there. I left the last time 25 years ago and it has deteriorated noticeably since then. Not a great place to visit and I wouldn't want to live there now. Use the by-pass if you can to travel around. If you are hungry, eat in Rockford.

Owen Sound is a lovely community.
Owen Sound is a lovely community. Everyone I encountered was very nice and people chat to you and smile. I am not sure of what there is to do in Owen Sound in January but I went to Harrison Park for a walk and then to Inglis Falls for pictures. There are lots of trails in the area.. As for dining out there are many good restaurants to chose from.

We chose Georgian Bay for a long w/e just because we had read about small vineries around the area in a brochure from LCBO and wanted to taste some wines from here. Two out of three were fully booked, so we ended up at The Roost Wine Co., a family-owned, small (just 5 ha) vinery, where the tasting experience is highly recommended.
So, going back to Owen Sound, we picked it simply because we found this value-for-money motel (Diamond) which we bet on and eventually we have decided it was a good choice all in one. Georgian Bay - as much as we saw of it - is wonderful, not because of its nature and landscapes (esp. beginning of Oct.), but also because its small towns, which have this flavour of an old era and are a joy to discover.
However, reading about the history of Owen Sound on wikipedia, with the piquant & juicy :)) stories of "The Bucket of Blood" and the madam sending her girls (from a brothel) to lure the sailors in; that was delightful itself.

An OK town, Billy Bishop museum is worth a short visit and Inglis Falls offer some nice walking trails ($10 parking). It is at the base of the Bruce Peninsula, allowing for access to a number of lovely spots. We did enjoy Sizzling restaurants in downtown area.

It's a nice little town on the water.
It's a nice little town on the water. We were there for a mid-week funeral so we weren't able to really take advantage of the local attractions. The country-side is very pretty in and around the town and there's lots of local markets to explore.
i am disappointed with the cleanliness
next day when I came back I found that the room was not cleaned nor garbage taken nor towels changed
when I asked I was told it is a new policy since pandemic , no house keeping should enter room
it is really doesn’t make any sense , I have visited few hotels in last 2 years . non of précautions was not cleaning the room
i am supposed to stay 3 days , should I stay in a non cleaned room for 3 days !!!!
plus
thé breakfast was disgusting and very small
Have stayed here in the past.Like most post-Covid hotels, could use a bit of updating. That said, if you are looking for a clean room, comfortable bed, decent Tv,wi-fi service, this is for you. Young man on desk pleasant and helpful.Doesn't do breakfast, but close to restaurants.Rooms at front have balconies that overlook the city, but rooms at back are very quiet - no traffic noise. Will certainly stay again.
We didn't eat breakfast. We did go to the bar in the restaurant which was small but nice. The staff seemed on top of it, no one standing around. I would recommend it. Everything about the hotel was perfect and its close to the community center. In the summer you would walk to downtown, but in winter it was a bit cold and windy.
They had an amazing breakfast set-up, perfectly handled for a pandemic and the generous portions left us with delicious snacks my kids enjoyed the rest of the day. All the staff were friendly and answered any questions we had about Owen Sound so we could get the most out of our stay.
Older hotel, but very clean. Nice little kitchenette with a good fridge and even 2 burner stove!
The location is close enough to everything, but set back from the road, and very quiet.
Staff were very pleasant & friendly.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The Motel was quiet and conveniently located. Everything worked as it should and I got a really good nights sleep, which I don't normally sleep the first night in a hotel.
The room was relatively clean though I did find a tick in the washroom.
Also, I googled pet friendly owen sound and this place came up as to why we booked, but when we arrived, the manager gave us a hassle over our dogs.
If going to Tobermory and thereabouts, I would suggest staying in Sauble Beach or perhaps even Wiarton and save yourselves the driving. Really nothing to do in Owen Sound so no need to situate yourselves there
The location is good and the hotel is fairly maintained. We stayed there for one night and just need the basic things like a freeze, microwave oven and a bed to sleep in. So, it was overall fine.
Walked to Owen sound hospital for left knee replacement
With dr. Haider.
Needed to relax and keep appointment for 6:30a.m.
Thank-you, for enjoyable stay
Sincerely,. Lawrence boland
The place is located on the way to Tobermory. Easy access to many hiking areas and good restaurants around.
I recommend the breakfast at SUNSHINE DINER located 500m from the Owen Sound Inn.
