Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.
It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 450 foot high fountain in the center of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.
With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.

A nice city, but it feels like a lot could be seen in little time. I stayed for 2 days and it seemed enough.
The lake is nice, and I like the diversity of restaurants there. A lot of rare birds for France, but handfed by the public, which isn't nice. Public transportation is easliy accessible and it was very nice to get a free illimitated pass even to the boat buses (given by most of the hotels)!
There is also a small open air iceskating ring, a lovely park by the lake and virtual reality experience.
We did walk past a man searching for a fight around 8PM (he was obviously drunk and told us to call the cops, and we had just walked past 3 frightening guys, not so far from the center), and we also saw a cyclist inconscious on the pavement by day with a huge injury on the head... Not feeling really safe there ^^;

Geneva is like a condensed version of Manchester: big buildings, great transport infrastructure, and welcoming people. It is extremely expensive though - 3-4x as much as London, which shocked me.
However it is a bit grotty near the train station (where all the best ethnic food is typically), and I didn't feel totally safe. Interestingly, the RLD felt relatively safe because it was so busy with tourists ogling and locals going about their business. You do get approached by prostitutes but they're friendly enough when you say no so it wasn't anything that made me feel uncomfortable etc.
The parks and gardens are outstanding. I also enjoyed the reptile house near the airport. The coffee and snacks at Boreal are fantastic and they cater for dietary requirements and speak fluent English too, so I spent a lot of time there.
With all this said, Geneva is worthy of a short weekend city break or enjoying a long layover in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there for longer.

The city on the lake front is beautiful. and so are the botanical gardens. The people are helpful and friendly. The pace of the city is measured. Every public convenience and space is superbly designed.
The airport is a joy. Everything works well and on time. Water can be had from the tap. Food is delicious. Public transport is free if you get a pass. You can jump on to any bus, tram, boat or train within the city at no cost. And you can drive or catch a train to Lausanne or Chamonix within an hour. Not sure of night life, because I had no time nor the inclination. But all in all a wonderful city.

Very nice, clean, green city.
Very nice, clean, green city. With many attractions & great views. Patek Philippe Museum is my favourite. And the stunnig Jet d'eau de Genève, of course. But February isn't the right month. April, probably, will be much more enjoyable.

Public transport- hotel provided a pass that allowed unlimited use of trams, trains, buses and water taxis. City is so easy to get around. People are friendly. It is clean and feels safe. The lake is incredible and the short trip to Mont Saleve was easy and highly memorable. Views are amazing. Eating out was more expensive than expected - very hard to find affordable food for a family and used supermarkets most of the time.
The best thing about this hotel is that it is located very close to the Geneva main train station (Gare Cornavin) and to most of the tourist attractions of the city. There are plenty of shops (including Coop), stores and restaurants nearby. We loved the liveliness of the area the hotel is situated in. The room size was just ok but it was very well kept. The bathroom too was comfortable and clean. The staff was polite and helpful. The lift and room amenities like mini refrigerator, kettle and stuff for tea/coffee were nice.
One of the newer hotels in Geneva. Excellent rooms & interiors. Helpful front desk. It is located about 200 meters from the tram station. The hotel also gave us a 3 day free pass for all public transport and taking the tram was very convenient to the city centre ( Bel Air station ). a 15-minute ride. The Balexert shopping mall is one stop away. We will return to this hotel on our next trip. It is highly recommended for those who like a modern new hotel & do not want to stay in the city centre.
It was a finding because of the money spent staying in such a convenient hotel just on the lake shore. The staff was polite and helpful. The room was small but convenient just for one night stay. I was unhappy that didn't had the chance to use it more because of the lack of vacant room. The decoration of the hotel and the sculptures inside are a little bit hm peculiar, but not a problem at all. The main pro is the value for the money in such an expensive city like Geneva.
Great location for getting from airport and taking bus to city centre. The reception on arrival
was splendid, Alan told us how to get to a great restaurant by city bus on arrival. We caught
the bus right outside the apartment and walked half a block to a very popular restaurant for
a great evening. We loved Geneva and especially loved staying at the Apart Hotel. Very well
stocked kitchen and most comfortable beds. Highly recommended.
Nice hostel in a good location. Although there are common areas near the reception on the ground floor, everybody seemed more interested on their phones than interacting with other travelers. Breakfast was included and was nice. Staff were friendly but having to deal with too many travelers, one could see that sometimes they were tired and tried to make their best effort. The price per night was expensive but hey, this is Switzerland!
The hostess was very welcome and offered us a room upgrade, which was much bigger than the common rooms, with a king size bed and good amenities. The location is very residential, a bit isolated from the city center which is good for those who want to avoid busy areas, there are buses and Trams stops nearby with easy access to the city and airport. Like all Hotels in Geneva they offer the city pass for free public transportation.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Crown Plaza Geneva, I had decided to stay an extra day following a ski trip with friends to Chamonix and this hotel was superb, the room was very clean and quite and the staff incredibly friendly. However, one of the best features was the free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel every 20 minutes, this was a life saver for me and I used it several times.
we arived in Switzerland early morning after flying all night. We went to the hotel to drop our luggage off as check in was mid afternoon. The manager told us to come back at 10:30 and he would have a room cleaned for us. I guess we looked really tired. When we came back, he told us not to sleep too long so we could see his beautiful city. He was awesome!
it was one the best services that let me repeat my residence in the hotel twice in one week, timing is good and the commitment was great not only tho the hotel airport but this allow us to use public transportation in the Geneva airport terminal.
Mr. Aziz is the receptionist was of greater help who make my time is really pleasant
This hotel is literally across the Geneva train station 10/10 for such a good location. I loved the bed it’s sooo comfy. I loved the bathroom as well - tastefully decorated and ready for you to film a get ready with me video. The hair dryer is also one of the best I’ve used in hotels. I had a lovely stay.
Spacious and comfortable room. Great location, next to Geneva's railway station, Place de Cornavin underground parking, and at walking distance of the main landmarks of the city centre. The hotel offered free public transport cards to all the guests for the stay's duration.
For the very very reasonable rooms rate (compared to Geneva and Switzerland in general) I would say the hotel exceeded my expectations. Basic rooms, but clean comfortable, air-conditioned with a good location (supermarket/ restaurants in the area)
Location was amazing. The airport to Geneva city center is one stop and the hotel is a block away. All in all - there isn’t MUCH in Geneva to see ( need
To explore out side of Geneva). Cute quaint hotel. Average pricing. Would stay again.
Loved the location, and the vibe of CitizenM. After an 8-day stay in Switzerland, this was a good bit of respite before departing back home to the US. Friendly welcoming staff, great breakfast, comfy room. Loved the main lobby!
Location was best for my purposes, which was close/adjacent to the train station. Extremely practical. Not for romantic views of the lake for couples on honeymoon maybe, but the scenery in Switzerland anywhere is great.
The hotel is very convenient for the water taxi that crosses the lake to the city centre, saving a journey that would involve catching at least twol buses. It is located in a quiet area, not far from Geneva Plage.
Fabulous hotel close to the train station, wonderful and friendly staff. Beautifully decorated with the best hotel shower! This will be my go-to hotel in Geneva from now on.
An apartment hotel in a central location in Geneva. The apartment is spacious and equipped with all cooking accessories. Kind and welcoming service at the reception.
