I went to attend to specific business, so it was a fine short stay. In terms of tourism, the city has to offer some shopping/entertainment and good prices. I did not try the beaches, but they look fine. The Baquedano street is charming. I would not recommend too long of a stay though, as there is not so much to do in the city itself, unless you use it as a base to try nearby interests, which I know exist, but I did not have the time to explore myself this time. Someone tried hard to make part of this place close to the Hilton another Miami Beach area but with great modern buildings. The environment is there but Chile, not necessarily Iquique is terribly expensive in comparison to what the people earn in return for their efforts. The prices are at international level but the attitude and lack of proffesionalism of the locals leave much to be desired.AAnonymousAustralia - 6.0Scored 6.0

I didn't like that on Monday all the museums and attractions were closed. To boot, their web sites said that they were open. The only place we saw was the Esmeralda museum (on Thursday). We took tours outside the city on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The historical district was very interesting and the beaches very pleasant. Would like to have had more time for the museums. Sorry the historical tram was not running in the winter. Good restaurants.

Great if your into surfing and activities with friends. I was a lone traveller and found it quite hard to get stuck in. The water is freezing so you have to hire wetsuits etc. For a beginner can be quite daunting. Great supermarkets and big department stores.
