Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World, hotel in Shanghai

Directly facing the People's Square, the Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai Grand Theatre and East Nanjing Road shopping area, luxury awaits at Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World.

The hotel is modern in a great location - at the intersection of three metro lines including the one from the airport. People's square is an important location in its own right. The room was spacious with a good shower and was made up every day. Breakfast had a large range of options. When I arrived from the airport before the technical check-in time I was allocated a room without a fuss. Was much appreciated after a long flight.

FAQs about hotels in Shanghai

A Beacon of Modern China

A beacon of 21st-century China, Shanghai is modernising at an electrifying rate. Nowhere is this more evident than the skyscraper-punctuated Pudong commercial district. The most distinct - the Oriental Pearl Tower - has a ball at the top and bottom and offers fabulous city views. A number of towers also twist as they go up – a feat of contemporary engineering.

This side of the city also houses Shanghai Pudong International Airport, while Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is over the Huangpu River in the Puxi district. An area of older and less dominating buildings, Puxi features the elegant Bund area whose varied architecture includes a surprising array of Art Deco.

With a choice of shopping centres and small shops beneath brightly lit neon signs just like Chinatowns across the world, Shanghai shopping is fantastic.

Other must-see Shanghai attractions include the wonderful Shanghai Museum and the Jade Buddha Temple. For a break from the hustle and bustle head to the Yuyuan Gardens, the beach or peaceful Zhujiajiao Water Town in the west.

Whether you choose one of the Shanghai hotels, apartments or hostels, take time to go to a tea house, a Chinese institution. Also worth sampling are Shanghai hairy crab, steamed dumplings and the freshwater fish so popular with locals.

Shanghai is an ultra modern metropolis.

Shanghai is an ultra modern metropolis. The city runs mainly on electric powered transportation. WeChat and AliPay are indispensible. Don't think you can move around China without these. The city streets are ultra clean, even those with heavy foot traffic. Food is great in this city, and reasonably priced.

Beautiful City and lots of nice places to eat. A little crowded in some places and you need to bring cash for some purchases such as restaurants. We didn't like people smoking in the restaurants.

Shanghai is a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable city.

Shanghai is a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable city. There are many historical buildings and streetscapes, and it has a special beauty. The people are kind, gentle and heartwarming. I really fell in love with this city. Shanghai Museum East Building, Zhujiajiao, Qibao, Yuyuan Garden, The Bund, Jing'an Temple, Tianzifang at night... it's full of beauty, delicious food and smiles. The performance of the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe was amazing! It's a special place that I want to visit again and again.

Shanghai Pudong is exceptionally well maintained, clean and modern. The people and service staff are all very friendly. The only downside was the weather - it was very hot and humid. We spent most of the time indoors, a overhead pedestrian links all the way from the aquarium to IFC to Shanghai Tower.

Shanghai was so full of surprises and many beautiful sites to see. I loved the river cruise and night lights of The Bund The Metro was absolutely fantastic The main shopping Area 19 was expensive, go to Yu Garden markets! I was disappointed the Science and Technology Museum was closed for renovations. Information in English was hard to find - do you research before you go!

The sightseeing and eateries were great, transportation is so convenient as both the Underground subway and buses bring you to the door step of your sightseeing and eateries location. The use of Alipay and Wechat were so convenient as i do not need to fumble with my chinese yuan. Just scan and go. The only slow down is the security checks required at every undergound station subway entrance. Hence it's advise to travel light (without backpack) else you need to put your backpack in for scanning. The weather was a little on the high side (around 33 to 42 degree) hence it's better to equip yourself with sufficient sun lotion and sun shade. The following are the recommended sightseeing : Zhujiajiao Water Town, The bund, Yu Garden, Oriental Pearl Tower, Nanjing road shopping district, XianTiandi, Shanghai Museum (need to book in advance), Shanghai Acrobatic Show.

In terms of location this is as good as it gets in Shanghai. Metro access under 2 minute walk. Direct access to Nanjing road, short distance to people square and tons of places. The rooms are comfortable although not very big. The breakfast is the best I have had in China and is well worth that of a high-end 5 star hotel. Bath and shower have strong water pressure and instant hot water.

We were really happy when the hotel allowed early check in as our flight landed at Shanghai at early morning. Eventhough it is an old hotel but it is very clean and the staffs were very helpful & able to communicate in English. We really appreciated lady staff namely Lotus who gave us longer time for late check up to allow us to perform prayer before we depart to airport.

Exceptionally nice, 1-class design. Super good view on Pudong panorama from hotel rooms. Location just at Nanjing Road. Michelin rated restaurants: Shanghai Tavern and Canton Disco. We visited both. These places definitely deserve the Michelin stars. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. The concierge was open to solve any problems we had.

The best part of this hotel was the very on time bus service which is in fact very important for the people new to Shanghai airport. It was also close to the airport. In fact the facilities were not as I was expecting based on the reviews. The value vas really good for the stay.
