Great space, full of green, not far from the port. The family running it were super nice and welcoming. They created a very comfortable atmosphere. The dorms were comfortable and clean. Fans ran on solar, so no problem with the power outages. Away from the noisy areas in the evening.

The owner is a delight to be around and also a great cook! During the stay I was feeling a bit off (unrelated to the stay) and the owner immediately offered medication to help.

This is the perfect place if you want to stay somewhere a bit more relaxing and away from the center of town. They help arrange tours, pickup to and from town. Breakfast was great! Nelson was wonderful, and attentive.

The town itself is small enough to check out in two days and nights but there are thongs to do in the surrounding areas. Walking from my hotel through the jungle, especially at night, was a fantastic experience.
The scuba diving (mid-December) was very poor. Low visibility. Dive and Green though are a great bunch and were lovely to meet.
In the town there is loud music all the time.

Capurganá is such an interesting town.
Capurganá is such an interesting town. A place that is still very much it’s own without being overrun by tourists and tour companies like many other parts of Colombia. It’s a very relaxed and friendly vibe, the people are so happy and community orientated. One thing I hate when travelling, is getting bombarded and hassled by people as soon as you arrive, this is non existent in Capurganá people are not phased by you or trying to sell you 100 different things which is so nice if you compare to Cartagena. There’s lots to see around Capurganá, with some beautiful walks in the jungle and boat trips to different beaches. We stayed 3 nights in the town which was good to get a feel for what the place is like and spend time with friends at different bars, it definitely gets noisy over the weekend as Colombians love their sound systems, but it’s interesting and fun to be immersed in it. They also had local football games on in the plaza. We then spent 7 nights just 15mins from town with was more secluded in the jungle - perfect for us as we wanted some time out to relax and read and also see some wildlife like birds, iguanas and monkeys. Capurgarepa was maybe our favourite restaurant, perfect for vegetarians and also feel free cafe had just opened which we didn’t attend but our friends said it was great. Otherwise there are lots of local restaurants and then posada Del gecko do good pizza. Our favourite place was Sapzurro, the beach was really nice and crystal clear water. We were there during the last part of wet season and we’re unlucky to get nearly a whole week of rain which apparently is unusual. The day after the big storms made the water turn up and not as clear but still beautiful. Capurganá is definitely not for the fainthearted, it’s not luxurious and pretty well off the beaten track but if you can get over that and enjoy it for what it is you will have a great time.

Ended staying there for an extra 4-5 nights.
Ended staying there for an extra 4-5 nights. If you want to get to Panama with a san Blas hoping island tour, it’s better to be organised in advance as there is not always internet/WiFi. You always got to have enough cash to be in Capurganá and American dollars to go on the san Blas tour.
