Freilassing - The gateway to Salzburg and the Bavarian Alps Freilassing is idyllically situated in south-eastern Bavaria, just a few kilometres from the Austrian border and the world-famous city of Salzburg. The charming town is often referred to as the ‘Gateway to Salzburg’ - and for good reason: in just a few minutes you can reach the baroque centre of Salzburg with its cultural highlights, from the Hohensalzburg Fortress to Mozart's birthplace and the famous festival.
