Trier is an interesting town, however be aware all the facilities & services you might be familiar with & expecting, may not be available. Such as; taxi, Uber, restaurants open outside of regular hours - these may all be an issue, according to what we experienced. Some of this was due to Christmas & New Years limited hours and services. I love Roman history so Trier was a must-see for me.
I love Roman history so Trier was a must-see for me. The main tourist attractions are easily searchable online but the city is small enough to be completely walkable. I was there at the end of November and there were already Christmas markets set up which was fun to walk around - buy the Glühwein (mulled wine) if you're there at that time. You have to eat at Weinstube Zum Domstein! They have traditional Roman food offerings which were delicious. I loved the meal so much, especially sitting in the Roman Basement (Römer Keller) where they have displayed Roman artifacts. Such a cool dining experience.

Trier is quaint and manageable for a small city. Friendly and hospitable locals. There were enough English-speaking workers in various establishments. I enjoyed the walking trails. The city has a lot to offer for Roman history enthusiasts. It has a far reaching and interesting history as a city in its own right.

Nice restaurants with traditional food and friendly service. Lots of shopping options for all wallets and interests. Town maps and signs all over the town are helping to find what you want. We visited 8 different countries and cities/towns during this trip and this area was one of the most pleasantly surprising.

A third day was spent indoors due to weather, but the apartment was so cozy, it did not matter.
