it was quite quaint. The gardens were lovely. From the walk when entering the hotel and to get to our room, we got to see the gardens every day. the rooms are quiet! You don’t hear the people above you, below you, or next to you. the bed was lovely as well; super duper comfortable. All the walls were white, which I loved, my Dad did not. The rooms are not fussy, if that is what you want, The Wilmina is not for you. But…if you want great service, super quiet comfortable rooms, cute little rooms to gather in off the kitchen, an afternoon snack (homemade of course), then The Wilmina is for you. FYI — I read someone’s review that said the woman who answered the phone was not friendly. So, I am not German, my Dad is, but was born in the states, I do think it’s difficult to call another country and expect the warm & fuzzies, especially with a language barrier.

What can I say.......it was one of the most interesting and hotels I have ever stayed in. You feel like you are a part of a special club. The room was the perfect size for the time we stayed there. The shower and bath were also large enough with a nice window. The bed was so comfortable that we took a picture of the mattress for us to order it. The breakfast was amazing. We wish we could have gone to the restaurant but it was closed while we were there. We will definitely be back.

The front office team was so genuinely friendly and helpful. The whole arrangement of the hotel is truly unique: The historical brick building is surrounded by a beautifully designed garden. My room had the most comfortable bed imaginable. I slept so well that I had to know more about the beds. I asked the reception team about the beds in the morning and it turns out that it turns out the mattress was made some eco-label named COCO-MAT. I think I might need one of these mattresses at home. In the morning, I had a coffee and a croissant in the main garden and was delighted by the bird twitter and the blooming tulips. All the items of the breakfast buffet were carefully curated and highest quality - including homemade jams & chocolate cremes, as well as hummus, pickled vegetables and scrambled eggs. I have stayed at several premium hotels in Berlin, but this one really stands out. 10/10 - could not recommend any stronger!

Full of character due to its history. Extremely well converted into a modern and well appointed hotel in a perfect location. The architect & interior designer has made a fantastic job inside and outside. Attention to detail is amazing. Very helpfull and informative staff. A unique and comfortable place to stay.

This is a wonderful hote with a lot of character and great attention to detail. They have embraced the buildings storied heritage as a former prison and as a result you feel you’ve seen a glimpse of the past but in the comforts of a charming and beautiful decorated hotel. My only suggestion as a business traveler is the addition of coffee makers and irons in the rooms would be helpful. All else was great.

Very beautifully designed hotel, exceptionally unique and lovely staff. The details all tell a story and you get a feeling of what the original prison may have been like while walking the halls. The rooms and facilities now of course are of a very high standard with lots of attention to detail.
