The surrounding countryside has a natural charm, with a small country lane leading from the house to a 35-hectare conservation forest that is perfect for walking. Don't forget your picnic basket to enjoy a snack in the countryside. In the cosy harbour of Hjarbæk, special dinghies - Sjægten - lie gurgling on the quay. The annual Sjægten Sailing World Championships are held here in week 33. Next to the harbour is a child-friendly beach with fine white sand. Away from the paradisiacal conditions for water sports, your children can spend many hours here building sandcastles and collecting shells and stones on the beach. Experience picturesque sunsets that colour the sky and the sea gold. The area around Hjarbæk Fjord is a wildlife reserve with otters, herons, kingfishers, bats and seals.
