Very kind and helpful hosts. Great localization. Quiet, close to the nature. The apartment was very clean, neat and functional. Amount of equipment in kitchen, bathroom and bedroom was larger than I expected.

“Den Gule Svane” has 3 apartments: The two smaller units which sleep 2 persons each, namely the ‘Fig Studio Apartment’ (named after an old Bornholmsk fig tree in our garden) and ‘The Cherry’ (also named after an old cherry tree here).They both have nice terraces which makes them quite private. Then we have a larger aprtment, ‘The Loft’, on the 1st floor which sleeps up to 6 persons. All are self-catering (you can of course also order our famous breakfast). The Fig and the Cherry are on the ground level and consist of a separate bedroom (2 single beds), black-out curtains, a dining table and a flat screen television (Netflix, Chromecast & Apple box, Danish, Swedish, German and Norwegian channels via Telia, plus streaming facilities via WIFI. The Fig studio has a kitchenette with a fridge-freezer, Air Fryer, microwave, coffee filter machine and a cooking induction plate. The modern bathroom is tiled with shower, toilet & basin. The Cherry is similarly equipped but is slightly larger with more kitchen space. The Loft is much larger again and has a great terrace with views! It also has a dishwasher and full cooking hob. All three are ideal for business travelers. The golf course is about 3 kms. All have private, separate entrances. In the case of the Fig we had to choose between giving guest acces via our private home, or via their own private entrance, so we had no choice but to do the entrance in the bathroom. There is free parking a smoking-free environment and a bicycle shed for your bicycles (we rent out 4 standard bicycles @70dk per day). We're near the beach,1 km and Rønne, 8 km and the airport, about 2km so we suggest you arrange a taxi via Dantaxi. Breakfast can be ordered, is room service, at 98 DK, and includes fresh bread or sourdough bread, either baked by Sofie that morning early or from our local baker. If, after reading this you would prefer one of our other apartments you should be able to cancel your old booking and do a new booking.
Diedrik & Sofie are a Belgian couple who moved to Bornholm in 2019 when they bought this yellow house, (built in 1888 as the local community school) and upgraded and renovated it in 2020. They decided to make 3 of those new rooms available for guests and so began ‘Den Gule Svane’ Guest House: the two smaller units which sleep 2 persons each are the ‘Fig Studio Apartment’ (named after an old Bornholmsk fig tree in our garden) and ‘The Cherry’ (also named after an old cherry tree here). They both have nice terraces which makes them quite private. Then we have a larger apartment, ‘The Loft’, on the 1st floor which sleeps up to 6 persons, has more facilities, is larger and has a great terrace with views. In Sofie’s case it was a ‘return to her roots’ as her father’s Mogensen family are from Snoggebæk and she spent many happy holidays visiting here as a child. The name Den Gule Svane comes from the national bird of Bornholm, the swan, and we made it a yellow swan because our house is painted in the yellow colours of Skagen, so typical here on Bornholm. Diedrik was born in South Africa but spent the past 20 plus years in Belgium. As a former lawyer-turned into wine educator (The European Wine Academy) he became intrigued with Bornholm when reading that the wine region Burgundy in France, and its original inhabitants, were named after ‘Burgundarholmr’ (the Old Norse name for Bornholm). Sofie is a qualified chef and baker and will provide a nice breakfast, at your door, for those ordering it in advance.Sofie speaks Danish well but Diedrik is still struggling a bit! They were both involved in two restaurants in South Africa.
The nearest beach is Arnager (about 1 km) so you can swim/splash in shallow water or dive from the harbour wall. Rønne is a 6km bicycle ride away, (with no parking or traffic problems!). Apart from the cycle path that runs right at our property entrance (we have 4 bicycles for hire) offering numerous cycle roads and forest paths all over the island, there is also a coastal hiking path that winds along the beaches. Rønne has boutiques, museums, art & crafts, pubs and café’s, restaurants, art galleries, swimming pool, supermarkets, buses and local boat trips. Bornholm is the first island in Europe, and the first islandcommunity in the world, to be awarded the title of World Craft Region. Our 18-holes golf course is about 5 km away, an easy bicycle trip of 15 mins. And for anglers, there is the sea (lots of Sea Trout caught at Arnager) and our dams are well stocked with pike and trout, in fact, the nearest angling spot is only 750 metres away. If it’s our famous white beaches you’re looking for Stampen, Onsbaek are all easy cycling distances. From Arnager, it is sandy beaches all the way, first the lovely Boderne, then on to the beaches at Duedde (5 km long beach) and Snoggebaek.
