The staff works very hard to make you comfortable.

The staff works very hard to make you comfortable. However you cannot make cell phone calls either to the hotel or from the hotel. This can be very disconcerting if you don't know ahead of time that the only phone access is landline. The food on the restaurant menu was very limited during the 2 days we were there. The main positive was the site and foliage on the site and view. It felt very tropical and the staff worked diligently to help you enjoy the place whether you wanted to eat in the restaurant or by the pool or down by edge of the property overlooking the sea. The small inconveniences were minimized.

I love Barahona! There’s always so much too look at.

I love Barahona! There’s always so much too look at. The purpose of my trip this time was to go to Polo. It was truly awesome! Then we went down to el Balneario Mata de Maíz — quite a trip but worth it when you see the beautiful waterfall and deep blue crystalline water. Super cold and refreshing in the mountains. We walked down the mountain and later paid a local to drive us up.

The beaches to the south were post card beautiful.

The beaches to the south were post card beautiful. We where traveling with someone who is from the area. The rivers are easily accessible. The food is not bad. We mainly ate at another hotel near where we were staying. The traffic is busy and lots of motor bikes. If you are looking for resort type of location, there are a couple of eco lodge type of hotels. But unfortunately, the nearest airport is Santo Domingo international.

It has amazing sights: San Rafael, Los Patos, Lago Enriquillo, Las caritas, el pueblo de Barahona, Las minas de Larimar, Balnario Miriam, Las Barillas, Las Marias, La Zurza. If you go for three days, you will have plenty of amazin things to do. I recomend going in your own car so you can decide what and when to see it. It really is a hidden treasure.
