Beautiful location in the cloud forest a few miles above the town of Mindo. We stayed in the upper level of the Canopy treehouse, which was a perfect combination of a quiet retreat with the birds and surrounded by an incredible view of nature. We enjoyed the walk to and from the main house that made us feel we had our own special nature getaway. The staff was friendly, with a notable call out to Jhon who was exceptionally attentive and Aracely who made the most delicious meals every day. We will always fondly remember this special week in the cloud forest with Casa Vista de Alta!

We were so pleased with our hotel experience. We stayed at the canopy house which was amazing. The view from the room of the Andean cloud forestthe outdoor jacuzzi, waking up to birdsong. The fresh breakfast was amazing, but so were all of the meals. The staff was very friendly. They happily entertained my 10 year old birder educating him about the local birds. Really kind, good people. We almost didn’t want to leave the hotel room because of the wonderful access to birdwatching. We loved our experience.

We made a last minute reservation, and enjoyed our time on the veranda with a glass of wine and hummingbirds as entertainment while staff readied our room. Beautiful wood and brick building, comfortable bed and extremely clean. Gorgeous views and the hummingbirds are delightful! I could have watched them for hours. Ten minute taxi ride from Mindo town, but so much more pleasant to stay here. If you are vegetarian, I recommend the vegetarian ceviche, which was sort of a gazpacho with beans.

A birder's dream! The deck overlooks intact forest and the thoughtfully landscaped grounds and well-placed feeders draw in a great variety of species. Fernando was a superb host- charming and attentive to detail. The hotel was spotless, the food delicious and the beds exceptionally comfortable. We stayed in the hotel but took a tour of the new cottage which looks perfect for a romantic getaway or for all-day birding from the decks.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights and had the most amazing time. Fernando from the front desk was very attentive and detail oriented, guiding u to the best services and tours in Mindo. He helped with everything we could have possibly needed. The restaurant was delicious (best food we had in Ecuador) and had a stunning view. Fernando was even kind enough to take photos of birds for us with their telescope, and got some amazing shots. The room was spectacular with a well equipped bathroom, a comfy bed and another great view. The place itself is beautiful with well thought out details like a fireplace on the terrace and beautiful lights lining the roof. The hotel itself is not very big, 5 cabanas total giving it a cozy, intimate and personalised feel. We will definitely be returning and could not recommend it more!

This hotel is a gem! No need to schedule a bird watching tour, just relax on the balcony and you’ll see plenty! Fernando was a great host! He’s friendly, helpful, and helped us rookies spot all the birds (😆), and John prepared delicious meals! The hotel is also within walking distance (~20-25 min) to the cable car/waterfall hikes and a longer but manageable walk to the butterfly house. Can’t wait to come back!
