Tartu is the second biggest city in Estonia, it has lots of places to visit, like museums, science centre, shopping centres, theatre, there are lots of walking to do, there are great local transport links in Tartu, there are plenty of hotels,B&Bs, plus apartments to stay in, most of the big shopping centres are in the city centre, there is also a free bus that takes you to one of the biggest shopping centres in Estonia, just on the outside of Tartu, that shopping centre is very big, and takes about two hours to walk round, it has a lot of different store, restaurants, etc there.
The local buses are also great to use,buy a tartu bus card, tap and go, or, buy tickets at Tartu bus Station, there are local buses, and city buses, there are lots of them, make sure to get a map, as it is a little difficult to know where to go/get off, if you do not know the area.
By the river, across the foot bridge from the city centre behind the market, you will find a nice beach area for summer, it is lovely there, and sandy, plus changing areas for everyone.

Fell in love with Tartu!
Fell in love with Tartu! An absolutely amazing city with a wide range of museums and activities, cosy and variable dining places, perfect for strolling and cycling around... So much to discover! I will surely return!
Try out the city museums, observation tower, printing history museums, science center, spa center, public transportation is easy to use and takes you all around town with an ease. Yet, one can also rent city bikes to move around 😀

Tartu is a beautiful student city to stay at.
Tartu is a beautiful student city to stay at. With the river running right through it it has everything you can wish for. It is busy enough to get whatever you want, but also to feel almost alone enjoying the lights around the river lights during the evening.
Also a lot of nature in a short drive away.

A nice and compact city - so called "university" town.
A nice and compact city - so called "university" town. A lot of things going on and many pubs on every corner. Just don't travel to Narva after visiting this town. It will be like a slap in the face.
The staff was extremely helpful to me. They helped me deal with a future booking stay where there was a language barrier between the hostel owner and me. They wrote for me in Estonian and even called the other hostel on the phone.
The beds were mostly twins, not bunk beds. That's always better. There was a shower designated just for women and another just for men.
Though there wasn't a table and chair in my dorm room, I was invited to use the table in the common area.
Everything was very well thought of, the spa area super nice and clean and loved the atmosphere. Staff were extremely nice and you could feel the warmth. Rooms nice and clean and loved the fact that they cave children also mini spa hotel slippers and kids towel poncho ( first spa hotel we have seen doing this in Estonia ). Definitely want to go back
The hotel is outside of central Tartu, next to a large shopping mall. It seemed to be very popular with families with small kids. The city centre is easily accessible by car or by bus. The room was nice, comfortable and clean, the wifi worked well, breakfast was good (although almost the same every morning), the free parking lot was huge.
Our very good estonian friend lives just some hundred meters from Villa Veering, so we had both supper and on 24th the breakfast in his house, so we need no breakfast from the hotel! This was our second visit in Villa Veering! We spent there also a night few years ago! And we were now as satisfied with other as during the first visit!
Hotel Dorpat has a good location in the centre of Tartu on the bank of the river Emajõgi. We had a nice, quiet and spacious room with a view of the river. The staff was really polite and helpful and we got our dinner to room as we were a little bit hurry to the theatre. The hotel breakfast was lovely and it was possible to sit outside.
It was a wonderful experience, a perfect price-performance match! Unlike the large hotels, this small wooden building is very cozy and with its character. The staff was very welcoming, and the breakfast was really nice. Since I was traveling by car, I appreciated the free car parking. Perfect location in the center of the city!
Amazing place - clean and well equipped. Cool layout with very high ceilings. I travel by motorcycle and could park the bike right on the terrace behind the windows - a very nice bonus. The "hipster area" of Tartu is right next door with all the restaurants and bars you need.
The apartment was a great place to stay for a visit to Tartu. The location was close to the City Centre and the beautiful park areas near the University. It had a nice coffee machine and kettle, plus a fridge/cooktop and oven. Everything was squeaky clean and easy to find.
I was impressed by the modern design of the hotel, it looked superb. The room was really nice, bed was large. Shower utensils were lovely, and breakfast was nice too. I did not use the SPA area, but my colleague liked it (three saunas and a swimming pool available).
The hotel was very beautiful and clean. The staff was helpful and there were a lot of parking spots for free in the Hotel area. With the access to everything being in the Tartu center the price for the hotel room and breakfast was totally worth it.
A very nice hotel in the center of Tartu. Restaurants within walking distance. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The spa part is small but cozy. Breakfast with a wide selection and delicious.
Perfectly situated in an historic building in old town of Tartu; nice, clean and very big room; very friendly staff; hotel is managed by private owners which makes the hotel very special, in a positive way; tasty breakfast.
The administrator was kind and returned some of the money for the trouble that was made. A huge parking lot. The room was spacious enough. A lot of Estonian candies served at the table of the room.
Excellent location, right next to the AHHAA science center, 10m walk to old town and the University of Tartu. A lot of restaurants and supermarkets around the hotel. Free parking is a bonus.
The owners are very very friendly and helpful. They were helping me for any questions! Big thanks to them for anything! Peace and friendship forever for Estonian and Russian people!
Finally a place where the the floor of the bathroom/toilet room does not get flooded with water once someone takes a shower! Such a common problem in Estonian accommodations.
