FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

Cairo is a great place , nice places to see / dine and visit , best times , avoid Summer , go there any other times. , use a tour guide if you dont know anyone and use tour guide car with driver , avoid taxis / normal Uber , they can be a nightmare , drivers can drive dangerously and frighten the daylight out of you . Al Rifa mosque , The toomb of many great men Curises are nice , Andrea was good , St Georges church Grand Egyption musium , spinks , the pyramids and some of the mosques , and some castles . do your research before going and stick to your plans and don't listen the locals , they charge commissions for taking you to their place that may not interest you , my daughter lives there so i was OK.

    Cairo is a wonderful city.

Cairo is a wonderful city. It is bustling with history and culture. If you are looking for relaxation, don't choose Cairo. The city is alive, it breathes and moves constantly. The old things are wonderful, but don't look around on the streets, there is too much trash. I don't know if this will ever change, that people pay attention to their surroundings.

Cairo has lots of attractions to visit.

Cairo has lots of attractions to visit. The museums, the parks, the pyramids, the mummies, the beach... Very nice place to visit alone or with family. The food to try is the egyptian oom ali, fol and tammaya, the fruit blends. Cairo has several modes of transport, uber, indrive, bolt, train and buses. Getting around for me was easy with uber and train atimes.

It was all great except for the tour that we booked through Ger Your Guide with Egypt Excursions online. They robbed us while we left our bags in the guide's car (which the guide encouraged us to do as he said we should not have any stuff with us while we rode the camels). So it was all part of the master plan. We tried to appeal, and even went to the police. The agency never even reached out to apologize or offer any solution. Otherwise, the garbage city and the city of the dead were very authentic experiences for us. Highly recommended to see a very different face of Cairo.

This time I stayed in Ginza near the pyramids. The GEM museum is not completely open (it was supposed to open on 6 July but it has been postponed yet again). I spent 3 hours there last year and this year there was a soft opening of 10 new rooms, which took another 3 hours of jaw-dropping artefects. My face was aching from so much smiling.

Amazing city with a vibrant life, the only problem is that you are basically gonna be surrounded by people who would like to have something from you or try to sell things for tourist prices. I would recommend getting a local guide who knows how to deal with Egyptians. (btw not all are like that) The food is amazing and delizious. but dont drink the water.

Breakfast was fantastic- one of the best, varied and tasty. And we did experience many hotels i dare say. Receptionist (Abdul) was extremely customer focused, he went above and beyond for each of our questions. Water pressure is very ok, water quality is fine to brush teeth (not everywhere you get that) Pillow and mattress were fine. Location is excellent- 2 minutes walk to Egypt National Museum, many restaurants with good food, sweets and drinks. Recommending Bab El Sharq and Le Poire

I had a lovely stay at this hotel. Stunning views of the Nile and city. Helpful staff. Authentic Egyptian breakfast. Free airport shuttle. Spacious and clean rooms. Private balcony. Ahmed, the Receptionist helped us organise tours and transport to the tourist sites as well as ordering in delicious shawarmas from the local takeaway. Lots of amazing restaurants such as Happy dolphin within a 5 minute walk. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would return if I visit Cairo again.

Location is very accessible, staff are friendly, price is reasonable, very near to Egyptian museum and souvenir shops, just beside KFC and some restaurants. There is also money changer nearby. Breakfast is good 👍 The tours in the hotel are cheaper than online booking. There is heater in the shower and my room is quiet at night. I will come back to this hotel if I am visiting Egypt again. 👍
