Parla is a bit tatty and dirty around the core part focussing on the Cercanias/C railway station. What older buildings of the original village remain are typically disused and facing demolition, while around them a new town has grown up inhabited either by older people or commuters with jobs in the nearby big city.
Streets are typically narrow, often one-way, but traffic very quickly subsides after the morning and afternoon-early-evening rush hours.
I recommend it as a place to stay with an aim to visiting and getting to know Madrid, as well as travelling to nearby famed cities like Segovia, Avila or Toledo.
The Cercanias suburban train network is cheap, solidly reliable and operates frequently. Moreover, evenings are peaceful and relaxing. The local shops near and around the station (featuring a long-extended plaza with well-designed two-floor brick architecture) are reliable and inexpensive compared to Central Madrid. There are also restaurants and plenty of bars/places of eat tapas.
The hotel does need a lot of improving, i don’t believe the rooms a worth the amount they are very basic and parts or our door were broken. They should consider doing room service for breaks and dinner. However the staff were very helpful and nice and helps us in anything we asked.
Receptionist were really lovely and helpful.
There is nice restaurant near by, you can get an uber (which is cheap) or can take the tranvia (behind the hotel).
