Loved the pool area to cool down, friendly hosts and simple but lovely breakfast all set out for you when you get up. Can't fault this place. We loved it. Room was so well decorated and bathroom was also great.

Ash and I live at Atelier88 with our dogs Queenie and Carlos who are part of our family but not permitted to intrude unless invited... In 2018 we moved to Alcala La Real, Andalucia, from Margate in the UK. We enjoyed our time as hosts in this lovely Kentish coastal town but have now left the coast for the country. Here in Alcala la Real we are surrounded by the most stunning scenery as far as the eye can see, characterised by mountains and olive groves and also steeped in history... As always, our aim is to create a welcoming, relaxed and informal space for our guests to enjoy. Whilst always respecting the privacy and personal space of our guests, we are also very happy to share our local knowledge and experience of the area so that you get the best from your visit to Alcala La Real. We believe that this, together with our unique combination of Yorkshire and Guyanese hospitality (and humour), makes Atelier88 THE place to stay in this stunning part of Inland Spain. Atelier88 is located in the historical centre of this beautiful city, just a short walk (4/5 minutes) from the Fortaleza de la Mota and the countryside. This charming old Spanish dwelling is at at the top of a hill (957m above sea level) with free on street parking available outside (or very close to) the house. Lovingly restored since 2016, you will enjoy its quirky features, eclectic style, use of colour and points of interest, both inside and out. In addition to your uniquely presented private guest space you are welcome to enjoy unlimited access to a stunning outside, partially shaded, terrace, the perfect place to enjoy early morning coffee or something cool later in the day. The facilities at Atelier88 really are second to none, comprising a beautiful Ecoclimatic Saltwater Swimming Pool every tile hand made and hand painted by our local Ceramica Salvador Ruiz Perez. The is also Free WiFi, Air conditioning, Central Heating making it a year round location and great for those travelling for business.. Atelier88 truly is Alcala's hidden gem, perfect for solo travellers, couples, small groups or families.

Neighbourhood information

Atelier88 is perfectly located, walk you will up Calle Real a little and within a few minutes you find yourself in the countryside with stunning mountain views and olive groves as far as the eye can see - perfect for hiking and cycling. Walk down the street and all the amenities are within a 5/10 minute walk: historic sites, parks, shops, health centres, library, theatre, restaurants and bars where you can be sure of a very warm welcome (and free tapas with your drinks!). The house is situated near the top of a hill, a stone's throw away from the Fortaleza de la Mota, the stunning Moorish Fortress. It is in the heart of the historic, northern part of this beautiful city, so be prepared, some of the old streets can be narrow and fairly steep. Alcala la Real is on the N-432, between Granada, Córdoba and with easy access north to Jaen, the province's capital. it makes it the perfect destination for those seeking to immerse themselves in the Moorish history, culture, architecture and natural parks that characterise this wonderfully authentic and traditional part of Andalucia.
